Just was wondering if anyone else has had problems getting a "play" phone in or around Chicago?  I had to go to 5 different places before finding someone who would hook me up without looking at I.D.  I suppose I could have ordered online or picked one up a a drug store or something, but didn't want it associated with my shipping addresse or have to register using home PC, so not even my I.P. is associated with it.  I know, that sounds paranoid, but safety first!!  LOL

I just walked into Best Buy and paid cash.  Why would they need your ID?

to set up the account for customer service and adding more time and stuff I guess.  I wanted it activated in store so I wouldn't have to use my computer to register it online. They needed name, addresse, b-day, phone number. I told them it was for a "friend" and gave them the info I wanted to be connected to the phone. But the first 4 T-mobile places said they wouldnt do it without proof of ID. Maybe I just had a streak of bad luck,LOL!

Last time I was in Chicago I forgot to pack my Bat Phone!  D'oh!  So I ran over to Best Buy and picked up a replacement.  

I always stick to the Virgin phone, usually the cheapy 17$ one.  You don't need to register it on a PC, just call the number they give you and set it up.  Use a fake name, fake address, fake everything.  Pay cash for it along with the "top up" card for minutes.  Mine was up and running within an hour from the cab ride to the store, back to the hotel and activation time.  

Hell you can go into any wireless store as well and just buy one without id as well

Go to Walgreens, the Dollar General. 30 bucks and a 300 minute credit.

Get them now, people and then hang on to them. It is quite possible this act will not be  available for long, so get your darling asses grandfathered. Recharge is paid in cash and nothing with your name on it. Let's not be silly and let's all be sensible when it comes to this practice. It may not be available in the near future
