I have a job in a demanding industry that often requires I be available to work on short notice (no I'm not LE). In about 10 years, I can recall 4 or 5 times I've had to cancel on someone. I have never pulled a NCNS, I always send an e-mail or call. In one case I happily paid a cancellation fee to someone I have really enjoyed seeing over the past few years.

If someone has to cancel on you, how do you handle it? Are you ok with it as long as it's not a NCNS? Or does it annoy you enough that it would make you not want to see someone again, or potentially sour you to them even if you were willing to keep seeing them?

I'm not asking this because of any problem I'm having with any specific providers, just more of a curiosity and maybe an opportunity to learn something.

Well for me.  I understand that things happen.  Life happens!  I just expect to be given as much as advance notice as possible.  And as long as its not a pattern of the same person cancelling on me, then I have no problem with seeing them when they can reschedule.  Repeat offenders though, no I am not willing to see them.  No matter what.  It doesnt make him a bad person, but I would feel that he does not respect my time and my life.

I do not harbor any ill feelings at all though, towards anyone.  However, a NCNS is VERY annoying.  No one wants to feel like they have wasted time and been taken for granted.  If it is a a NCNS, I am still open to hearing what that person has to say, because again, LIFE HAPPENS!  I have been guilty only one time where I was a NCNS, however I was in a car accident on the way to the client and was hospitalized.  I did contact him a couple of days later when I was able.

So, just be respectful and understanding is what I do and hopefully make for a happy and fun meeting with that person eventually.  :)

Sincerely...

...so to have a last minute cancellation is generally not acceptable. Of course I would appreciate you calling rather than just not showing up so that I could possibly rebook the time, but if this happens more than once you would probably end up being someone I would decline seeing.
