If this is indeed True (Expanded penalties felonies also apply to soliciting and pimping for those over 18.)  and if it do become the Law of the Lincoln Land then this is a Very Big change.

I hope some Law maker come up with some sort of compromise for these penalties. Big difference between a misdemeanors and a Class 4 Felony for first time offense and a class 3 for a second time offense.

Do you know when we can see some of these Laws getting applied or the they will go for an appeal process in higher court even supreme Court..

and thanks for the explanation and clarification wrigs26

This links tells the End Demand interpretation of the new law...

Do you all think it will hold in Court if sign into Law.

It expands on penalities that are already approved, and will not be challenged for any violations of the constitution. It does make felons out of anyone that is involved in activities promoted on this Board. If you solicit a provider off of an ad on TER you have committed a felony. If you post an ad and arrange the "date:, you are now guilty of a felony. They have left open a vague interpretation of "soliciting and pimpimg". Not good >>>>

The thing I am  confused about  is their vague interpretation of the expanded penalties...Do these applies to cases which resulted from under age "soliciting and pimping" or they also applied to if the provider is an Adult.  looks like they kind of stick Adult part with the under age part so it can pass easily, but the consequences of Adult part are
way bigger for this Hobby..

Expanded penalties (ie: felonies) also apply to soliciting and pimping for those over 18. Big change in what happens when you get caught now. No more slap on the wrist misdemeanors, felony convictions are the rule of law. Be careful everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone needs to start outing the politicians as soon as the first people in an 'adults-only' arrangement gets made an example of with the BS cover of doing it to 'save the kids'.

Without saying exactly why or how in a public forum, there might be some room for a defense to adult patronizing (which is the only change that really matters, given that none here are patronizing minors).

So does it make RS2K felons?  They are only doing the Adv and provide a verification service?  It seems as though that would still keep them out of the 'felon' bucket, but if they are grouped in does that now put their client lists at risk?

SMEGMA!!

I have always been told that Cathy's lawyers felt comfortable with their status.  It makes no difference what the penalty is, they are either liable or they aren't, or subject to a subpoena, or not.  So nothing's really changed but the stakes.  My personal view as to whehter there may be bases for RS2K's liability isn't a proper subject for a public forum.

The Court of Appeals held the old law with all its vague definitions constitutional several years ago.  The new law changes nothing other than penalties.

Wouldn't the penalties need to be just as harsh for members of BOTH sexes for it to be non-discriminatory? That would seem to make sense judicially, to avoid litigation. I could see many legal cases involving discrimination down the road, if the penalties vary from hobbyist to provider, which is MOSTLY male to female.

I wanna hobby my ass off while still misdemeanor.

I'm too young to worry about this felony horses***. I'm new to the practical aspects of the Chicago hobby but I'm thinking of taking an indefinite hiatus once this becomes law. Too much risk for me. Hence, at least for this gent End Demand will have won. And I had such a great ride being single...

I think he had August 24 to sign into bill or Veto it,if none happen it automatically become the Law.

And then expect some high profile stings to scare the shit out of the people.. Still can not believe they can do it..

I am sure that a well heeled hobbyist has nothing to worry about. We know that prostitution is not legal so we don't deal with prostitutes. We don't pay for sex acts.

Technically you are correct charlie, but all it takes is one good bust, and we're all screwed.  If this does impact Illinois, Milwaukee will be the closest. I don't think I'll like that.
This will suck big time, but what else can we do?

Gary, IN will probably be the next hub for hobbying in IL. Close, somewhat corrupt and most importantly, out of state.

They take what would be a good law (protecting children from trafficking) and use it to slide in draconian punishments for consenting adults. Holy-roller B.S. Back to the '50s...

Is Escorting Illegal?  What if all we do with the escort is talk and dance.  Most of the time escorts are more economical than going to strip clubs.

what could they charge hobbyist for?  what law is broken?

LE always thinks that lot more happened beyond close doors then just dancing and talking.
So you have to proof to them beyond doubt that you are simply their for Escorting so they dont file any charges since as you said their is nothing illegal about Escorting. On the other hand LE need to proof too that
money was passed for sexual acts ....

Escorting is not illegal..

What is the difference between "Solicitation of a Sexual Act" and "Patronizing a Prostitute"??  Aside from the severity of the penalty.

I think these new definitions have open a can of worm. Lawyers going to have a field day.
A defense lawyer can interpret the law completely different then a prosecutor lawyer.
More money for lawyers I guess..

Seems to me, there is only one reason we have stupid laws.
