I will be coming to Chicago on Monday through Friday and have found myself with free time.
I am not the kind of Girl that likes to shop or hang out at beauty salons.

I would like to keep my skills sharp and I am wondering about Firing Ranges in the O'Hare Area.

My holster is very tight and practicing the draw seems like the perfect thing to do while visiting.

Your double entendres are very cute, but if you are serious about doing some shooting, be very careful of Chicago's and Illinois' gun laws. They are among the most restrictive in the country. There is no reciprocity with other states. If you have a carry permit from your state, bring that to IGW (I second the recommendation). They will loan or rent a weapon for use in their range. You buy the ammo you use.

Good luck and good shooting!

I am serious but could not resist the opportunity to play with words.  It is disappointing to see that Illinois has no right to carry, hopefully that changes soon.  I do keep up with the Concealed Carry Laws.  I am a good girl & don't want to be breaking any laws.  I have had my CCW in Minnesota since 2004.  Thank you to all posters!

If you are really loking for a range, try out Maxon, it's located in Des Plains, about 15-20 minutes from O'Hare.  Decent prices.  $20 for range time.  I usually get my ammo from Walmart, 250 bullets for 56 dollars.

Quite the contrary. Melissa is the reasonable one.

Illinois is the only state without some sort of CCW law and Chicago has one of the highest crime/murder rates in the country. And if NYC did not have the cops doing unconstitutional pat down searches, they would exceed Chicago's totals.

Where ever CCW was made legal, crime dropped.

A lady who meets strangers in private settings in her line of work should definitely carry.

I agree, use this range all the time!  Easy to get to from O'Hare and is actually right down the road from all the hotels!  They have rentals which is great for travelers!

I don't think any of the local ranges will allow drawing from a holster, but I haven't been to Maxons in years.

I dont see why not...a holster is all about shooting right...why do you think they would take exception to having a holster.

The problem is you have someone pointing a locked and loaded pistol in a direction other than down range.  People sometimes will pull the trigger too early, ie, before they are on target, even to the point of shooting themselves.

If you stay in Oakbrook then Midwest Guns in Lyons is a good option. Its also about 20 min SW of downtown.

If you are still here, there is one in Lyons called Midwest Gun Range. About 20 miles west of Chicago.
