I expect I know the opinion of most providers and certainly most hobbyists on this one.  I met with a provider through a screening/scheduling service I trust (they give me honest advice on GFE v. non-GFE, etc.).  They happened to have a new provider in town, who I was advised was GFE.  There were two other reviews on the provider - one certainly stated GFE and the other was so-so (but seemed a case of YMMV on that one).  I decided to see "her".  Well, when I arrived, I was met by a very tall provider (5'10-5'11").  There were other clues that led me to a conclusion that was not disclosed.

My question....is there a responsibility of the provider or the service to tell you that you are being set up with a post-op transsexual?

I hear where you are coming from, although it sounds like your opinion is in the minority.  Of course providers are going to say "no", it doesn't matter and you don't have to inform the client ahead of time.  I see their side of the debate as well though.  For me, if you still appear manly after your switch and look like a tranny, then yeah, you might want to say something to the client ahead of time.  I think that honesty would attract guys into that sort of thing, and would definitely help lead to repeat clients vs one-and-done clients.  Plus there are insanely wacko people on this earth, and Lord knows the reaction one might have if they found out they had sex with a person who used to be a guy.  I would think from a safety perspective you'd want to be upfront if your appearance is borderline.  I hate to even suggest this, but the reality is that there are some unstable morons on this planet who could react in a disgusting manner.
On the other hand if after the switch you really present like a woman, and completely act as such, then what is the harm to lead your "business", and your life for that matter, as 100% woman.  If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's a duck.  But if it looks nothing like a duck, and sounds like Barry White, yet has a duck's vagina, not so much a duck........

Transvestite is not PC, or is it just "tranny"?  Is cross-dresser a slur as well?

Transvestites and cross-dressers are essentially men who wear women's clothing.  There's a big difference between being a trans-sexual woman or trans*woman, and being a transvestite.  Transvestites and cross-dressers generally identify as straight, cis-gendered men, whereas trans-sexual women and trans* women identify as women.  Transvestism is also considered a fetish/paraphilia in the DSM IV (it may have been downgraded in the DSM V, but i'm unsure), and deals exclusively with male sexual arousal caused by wearing women's clothing (this is also pretty controversial as well). Being a trans*person, on the other hand, has to do with gender identification.  A trans* woman lives her life as a woman because her gender was mis-assigned for whatever reason (this could be due to a million issues, some of which were touched on in the older thread Zoey referenced).  Terms like "tranny", when used to describe a trans* woman, basically state that she's just a man who gets off on wearing women's clothing, and is therefore found as derogatory (unless someone has given explicit permission that the term is okay to use when referring to them).  It's also a term used to degrade and further marginalize trans people (who are a traditionally stigmatized and marginalized as is), so it's a negatively loaded slang term when used by someone who is not trans* in reference to someone who is.  

The PC police are out; the blatant disrespect shown to people on the GD boards are why you don't find me there.  I shouldn't have to discuss the history of words like "hooker", and "slut" on a board that's pro-fucking and pro-sex.  I shouldn't have to discuss the fact that those terms exist in order to shame women who are overtly sexual.  If the women on this board weren't overtly sexual, and not ashamed of their overt sexual nature, there wouldn't be much of hobbyist community, would there be?

I don't care how a TS "identifies".  If I "identify" as the president of the united states, does that mean all should take orders from me as such?  Do I get to use Air Force 1 etc.?

Let me put it to you this way;  How would you like it if the doctor you went to for your sex change, after agreeing upon a sex change operation... after waking from the operation it turns out this "doctor" just glued a rubber pussy onto you?  Would you still think the client (you in this case) doesn't have any rights to know this supposed doctor's previous history?  When you seek out a doctor, you're seeking out a doctor... not someone that "identifies" as a doctor.   Wearing a lab coat and stethoscope, and calling ones self a doctor, doesn't make him one. When hobbyists seek out women, we're looking for women, not people who just think they're women.  

Words and terms are defined, defined for a reason... you can tell everyone that blue is red, up is down etc., but that doesn't make it so.  Female/woman is medically defined... and no where in that definition does it say that a certain amount of plastic surgery creates one.  Your genes will always be your genes, plastic surgery does not change this.  Sticking feathers up ones butt does not make a chicken.  

TS's should be honest just for this sake alone; it may save their lives... I know a few guys that wouldn't take kindly to being lied to, or attemptedly lied to in that way.  They would snap directing murderous fury towards the TS.

It's just plain unethical to not disclose this

...and while I don't speak for the trans community because I am simply just allied with them, it's common knowledge that the word "tranny" is offensive to trans people ( I wish TS Rachel was around to comment). RuPaul is a gay man who impersonates a woman (quite well at that) he has repeatedly stated that he is not trans and identifies as a gay man.  So, while there are those who don't find the word offensive, referring to a trans person as "tranny", without permission from that person, is highly suspect.

Pretty sure a woman with a vulva and a vagina advertising as TS is false advertising. When someone seeks out a TS provider, they're looking for something specific.

The only reason they asked Ru how HE feels about the T-word was in response to Carmen Carrera, a trans woman,  expressing that she finds the word offensive. Why would you take Ru's opinion on a slur that doesn't apply to him over someone who is dehumanized by that word constantly? It's like asking a white person if they're offended by the N-word. Who cares?  

The definition of TS doesn't require one to have a penis:

"Transsexualism is when an individual identifies with a gender inconsistent or not culturally associated with their assigned sex"

Pre-op, Post-op, it doesn't matter... a TS is a TS.  When one seeks a TS out, one must be aware of the differences.  To assume all TS want a penis or have a penis is very insensitive.  

I also think you need to look up the definition of "straw man".  While my arguments are fictitious, they lack the attribute of misrepresenting my opponents argument.  For a "straw man", you misrepresent your opponent's argument, build a fictitious argument of that misrepresentation, then destroy that misrepresentation.  What I did was nothing of the sort.  Admit it, if you went to a supposed doctor, got screwed over by this fake doctor, you'd be quite unhappy.  Same thing applies to providers/clients
