I am not white so I have nothing to apologize for.

I also don't celebrate Columbus day and I predict if we ever create a new "PC" holiday, Columbus Day will be the one to go to make way for the new holiday. After all, you can't "discover" a new world if there are already people living there. That makes you an invader, not a discoverer. I hate political correctness, but facts are facts.

Well I certainly plan on having a great day today

but it's not because Columbus Day really memorializes anything that I think should be celebrated.

I also don't ever have my day ruined because someone was "mean" on the internet, especially on an anonymous fuck board. So have a GREAT Monday Gina.

My Take

Columbus Day celebrates a major event in the history of the world and America. It also celebrates Italian heritage and culture. I don't believe Columbus personally killed anyone. What happened after he landed was out of his control and not his responsibility. We can debate American history and even agree to a separate Native American Peoples Day while still recognizing and honoring the significant achievement of Christopher Columbus.

I hate to go all PC on you, but you seriously need a refresher course in Early American History

The brutality of Christopher Columbus is undeniable, and the number of people who died by his hand and by his orders completely within his control and 100% his responsibility.

I can't believe anyone could make such a naïve statement when a simple Google search will reveal a litany of "crimes against humanity" committed by Christopher Columbus. There is ZERO debate here, the man was a fucking monster, and should be reviled, not celebrated.
