I am looking into an incall downtown. And I am just wondering - is the northside too far for those who live downtown? Obviously, apartments in the loop can be quite expensive. Whereas the North Side is a bit more affordable, but I also don't want to make it difficult for those who don't own cars to get to me....

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Most of the men who see me when I'm downtown (weekly, ya know) are coming from work, taking a cab or walking from their office depending on my hotel. When I'm here in my incall on the northside, it's entirely different as there's not always as much activity during the day but plenty on the weekends. You kinda have to consider when you want to work most. South Loop is where I typically prefer and apartments there are definitely cheaper than say the Mag Mile.

I work downtown and a quick cab ride to the west or south loop would be preferable.  It certainly would be an incentive.

eing a commuter I often look for an appointment on the way home. I would love it if I could find someone near one of the metra stations. South loop, west loop, etc.
 

If you are looking for a permanent place, then the South Loop would be your best bet. Very close to the guys who work in the loop (like me, we should meet hehe!).

But also its booming with awesome restaurants & bars. There are lots of high-rises & condo buildings going up so prices are cheaper than Lincoln Park or Bucktown. Much closer & faster to get to as well

Is Van Buren and Lasalle Considered the south loop?

Close enough. Also, that is close enough to Union Station to get a lot of commuter appointments.  

If you end up near there, I'd definitely come by.  

These areas aren't that far from each other. Just hop on the CTA Redline Train and you'll be Downtown in about 20 minutes.  

 
Jamie don't worry about making your location easy for the guys to get to you. If they want to see you they'll find a way to get to you. With or without a Car. If a guy doesn't have a Car then there's something wrong with him. If a guy can't afford a Car, then he probably can't afford to see you.

is a great area, nice bars and restuarants, decent parking and not too congested.  A short taxi ride from anywhere.  Lots of lofts, apts and condos.  But, no providers over there, not sure why...

Those who live DT, choose not own an Automobile, it can be very expensive to own and used very little. These guys know how to get around sans their own car....
most who Work and commute are the same.

So don't worry baby, they'll find a way.

Personally I wish there were more providers on the north side. Getting downtown can be a pain the ass but the north side, especially if fairly close to the expressway, is a breeze to get to.

This is a good question.  If your typical clientele is 30+, then I would say a place near the 90/94 split near Irving Park Road.  Easy to get to from any direction when coming from north, city and to city.

Skokie has been awesome for me to see providers personally.  Not sure for others.

Hey Jaime, a few things to consider with your search.

Since my Incall is on the north side I will offer suggestions based on my experiences. I am not south loop and have nothing to contribute on that end sorry.

I'm within five minutes of many Kennedy stops like Belmont, Addison & Irving Park at the merge. They are also all blue line accessible from downtown and O'hare which is very helpful.

I considered being near the above locations plus watching for meter and permit parking of which my Incall has neither.  I am fortunate to have found a place with no meter parking and is also non-permit as there aren't too many places like that near expressways and trains anymore.

Parking by me is typically only an issue, once per month on street cleaning days during those hours.  

Meter parking gets inconvenient and expensive. Permit parking is way difficult to deal with.  

You will need to make trips to these areas OR ask these questions if they are deal-breakers before even going to look at a potential location. I can be downtown in as little as 10-15 minutes during non rush hour traffic times. That all changes as every Chicagoan knows during high peak travel times.

One other thing to consider the Edens 94 expressway is almost always much quicker than 90 Kennedy!

You should be looking for a larger type multi property building on a quiet street without permit parking requirements or meters. I have found several affordable places in my few years in the business.

The area around State & Cermak is particularly nice. Lots of residential going up there, and AMAZING restaurants all over the place

Realize that lots of loop apartments have door men, too. Aside from being expensive and difficult for parking.  

My incall is close to the highway and very close to public transit. I'm not downtown; I simply can't afford the rent down there. Plus, discretion can be an issue with lots of buildings requiring visitors to sign in and out.  

Personally, I'd pick a location with easy parking that's accessible to public transit and cabs; different things work for different folks though.

I work in the loop, live on the North Side, in Lakeview, and don't have a car.  Mass transit access makes or breaks the deal for me, as I pretty much run my life on the red, blue and brown lines.  I see "Northside" incalls in ads all the time and never respond because it's too vague.  Northside covers a big area.  I can't tell what's near the El and what isn't and if I ask, I think I'll just get told what I want to hear.  If an incall is South Loop, Mag mile or Near North Side, I know I can get there, so that's where I tend to see people.  As someone has pointed out, incalls in Lincoln Park or Lakeview are best for evenings and weekends, at least for me.  Downtown/Near north, after work.  Hope this helps.

Why not ask a 'northside Ad' what the two nearest busy/cross streets or intersection is.
That will narrow the area down greatly, than you can more accurately decide what is too far.

I've never had anyone tell me that's too far north when coming from the loop.
