Providers keep our contact info...

I received a call from a provider today on my cell letting me know she is in town and offering discounts...and wants to meet.

I find this alarming.  I met with her once over two years ago and it was not a good time.  Clearly I wasn't interested in a repeat date as I never contacted her again.

I am concerned as this sort of action is not discreet and can cause problems for me or any other hobbysit.

I was curious what others felt about this.

Get a cheapo pay by month phone for the hobby and you won't run into this issue. But since she has your number already, maybe you can block her.

I received a similar call from someone I had never even seen before but she said she was a friend of someone I had seen a couple years earlier. I had the same reaction as you and thought to myself not only has this provider kept my personal info (presumably on her phone) for the last couple years but now she has taken it upon herself to share that info with her friends!! Needless to say it's VERY bad business and can be very alarming as you put it that she would think that's okay to do. At the very least the provider I actually had seen could have reached out to me first to see if was even interested before passing my info along. I fear that all of the players in this "hobby" of ours are beginning to get way to lax. Hence my lack or current reviews.

See, it's behavior like that that makes the guys not want to be screened. I mean, does McDonald's call everyone who's visited their establishments to tell them that the goddamn McRib is back? No, they make a commercial and wait.

I will literally never understand this kind of "marketing." Nobody likes a Debbie Desperate.

It's one thing to send a casual email to update about an upcoming tour had the initial meeting been good, it's entirely different to flat out call fully understanding that a repeat booking was nowhere in the future.

I would be outraged, this is highly inappropriate behavior regardless of being desperate. Nobody's security should be violated.

Three different providers have done this to me over the years.   Highly unwelcome.  Even more unwelcome is the fact that in all three cases I had given the providers less than stellar reviews.  I am sure they just called everyone in their book, not even remembering who it was, and that included me.

There are a number of prepaid one's you can get.  Also suggest a separate email account if you don't already have one.

is that her phone fell into the hands of LE and they are calling her contacts to set up a "sting".  Either way its a bit alarming that the info is being held for so long.  Makes me thankful for pay as you go phones!!

The McRib is back? Why in the hell didn't someone tell me. It's been awhile since I've had juicy goodness dripping down from my lips to my chin. Wait no it hasn't. But it was not from the McRib. Lol ; )

Seriously though. This happened to me many years ago. Not a call but a text. I had seen her 2 times previous and she basically was texting to ask when I would be able to visit her again. Visits from her male admirers had most likely become scarce. I wasn't able to see her at the time. By the time I was able, her phone was disconnected.

I don't mind being contacted, but I think email is always best in the interest of the other person's privacy. Modern smartphones do have settings where you can choose how you would like to be alerted when certain contacts contact you. I can create preferences where certain contacts are muted, or vibrate, or do not alert at all. Pretty much allowing me to control the way things happen. A burner phone is still a good idea though.

on their phones, on their computers, and in their email accounts. We know this happens even though it shouldn't but it's highly inappropriate to text or call our phones without prior approval (not even the hobby phones). Providers have no way of knowing if the hobby phone has been compromised.

Ladies, if you want to contact us for a possible meeting, use our hobby emails ONLY.

I never, EVER call someone out of the blue. Even if you call me and I miss your call, I do not call back until you call me, or if you tell me it is ok. I am very concerned with discretion, and while I know that some guys have hobby phones, I also know that many don't. I don't even answer emails late at night anymore, out of fear that its connected to your smart phone and will ring in the middle of the night.

So the girl saved your number for 2 years?! Thats crazy....

Wow. So not only is it so indiscreet that if you wife picks up the phone she sees the pic, but other guys' now have your number!
