I had my first few reviews rejected because, according to TERSupport, I didn't write enough "juicy details."  So I had to go back and force myself to write about things that I would really have preferred not to share.  And I felt like I had to ham it up to get the review approved, writing in a style which I would never take on elsewhere.  I don't mean inventing stuff (they're all fictional stories anyway) but rather using more vulgar and explicit language.  I would really prefer not to have to do that.

This is not a complaint.  I understand why TER enforces such policies.  But I'm just curious if other reviewers experience the same wincing distaste that I have experienced when reading back my own reviews.

I'm also curious what the providers think about it.  I can't imagine they like very much having their services documented in such great detail, not to mention all the vulgarity involved with it.

I think that in the future I'm going to have to strike a better balance between writing explicit details and writing in a polite and respectful manner.  I am not at all satisfied with the tone or content of my reviews so far.

The way to do it is to use the abbreviations and don't exaggerate on the details.  Too many guys write harlequin novels or reviews with no details at all.  As you said in your post, just strike a better balance.  The review should be informative, but not some raunch fest or some drippy nonsense.

As for providers, they mostly look at reviews as a necessary evil in the business.

asking them if you can write the reviews from more of philosophical angle or if it is ok if you incorporate some math into the review like (68+1).  Maybe that will work.

BTW, don't get me wrong but it appears you are having a lot of fun around here.  I know we complain sometimes that so few write reviews but hey you just got here and have 8 reviews iin your first month.  My hats off to ya!  Move over CTP, looks like you might have a competitor here!  Let's see how much stamina this guy has!

Haha...

Yes, I do have fun here, and I have certainly kept up an incredible pace this month.  But if you look at my reviews, you will notice that they were all inexpensive services, averaging $80 per visit.  That is the reason I have been able to see so many in such a short time.

Let me chase that tangent for a moment:  I frequently read that one should never hire a sub-$100 escort, because they will give you bad service.  Certainly this has happened to me on occasion, but by and large they have been very nice and friendly.  In fact, a couple of times I've gotten INCREDIBLE service from these girls.

In return for their offering such a modest fee, I try to be as polite, easygoing and undemanding as possible.  It's hard to say with certainty, but it really does seem like I have been successful in this.  Most of the girls I see have made unsolicited comments about me being friendly and easy to take care of.  Then again, maybe they're just being polite.  In any case, I always make the effort.

But anyway, I don't know how long I can keep up this pace.  Probably not very.  We shall see.

the lack of juicy details....  I can't imagine that for 80.00 you get much in the way of juicy details.  In fact, I think for most, including myself, it is a foregone conclusion that for 80.00 you can expect some upselling to take place after the initial 80.00 if you are looking for any real fun at all.

Maybe things are different in Rockford?

I think Rockford is a depressed area, and I get the impression that escort prices there reflect that.  That is to say, I think $80 will buy you more in Rockford than it will elsewhere.  On the other hand, I did find a gal in Aurora for $80 who was wonderful in just about every respect.

But honestly, I don't really want services beyond those I can get for $80.  Maybe I'm boring that way, but it just doesn't strike me as a fun time to.... well, do all those things you hear about that girls don't normally like to do.  Now, I have in the past tried certain things out of sheer curiosity, but I never found them to be terribly enjoyable.  Basic service is all I desire.

I really only have three requirements:  Don't rush me, please look nice, and please BE nice.  As long as my escort has those bases covered, I'll be more than satisfied.

Yes, I have felt awkward. At the same time, I have benefited from reviews posted by others. Whether a provider provides a good massage, allows DFK, BBBJ, CIM, ... enthusiastically or not, are important to me.

What I hate are fake reviews - and there are quite a few in the database.
I also dont like reviews that are too liberal with points, both for looks and performance.
A 7 is attractive and 8 is hot, and these are great. A 6 is nice.
I dont think I given anyone a 9 - that stands for model - and I am not impressed by the many anorexic types that do the model walk.

I have had the same expeience. I guess we'll just have to deal with it. I don't like being vulgar either.

My basic view is that I should not publically share what to me are intimate details of  even fictional personal interactions, particularly sexual interactions.  And publically cricize a sexual partner?  That's something I would prefer not to even tell the partner privately, although I have.  So yeah, i feel awkward, although I have posted a couple of reviews.

I have no problem with anyone who feels differently.

I know that this is not rational in the context of TER, or p4p as a whole, and may be a disservice to both the ladies and my fellow hobbyists,  but it is what it is.  And I am something like 102 years old, which colors my attitudes.  TER accepts cash for VIP as well as reviews, and presumably that's a large part of how TER can exist.

However, if you read enough other reviews, perhaps of higher priced ladies, you'll see how to include a lot of juicy details with a minimum of raunchiness.

Most, but not all, providers would like at least a certain number of reviews, as long as they are favorable ones.

Finally, I would recommend an old short sory by Woody Allen, called "The Whore of Mensa", to the OP particularly.

I was reading reviews related to the provider discussed in the post directly above yours titled "Anyone seen this gal?" I wonder if there isn't a reduced standard for a Backpage provider. If yours were better than theirs, you've got a beef, my friend.

Oh, without doubt the reviews are beneficial to many!  And although I feel kind of bad about it, the rating system is nevertheless very important, I agree.

Regarding being liberal or conservative, remember that this is not an exact science.  Your 8 may be someone else's 6, and vice versa.  For example, I like a little ridge of fat on the belly.  Maybe that's because I also have a little ridge of fat on my own belly.  : )  But whatever the reason, that's just something I can appreciate.  I met one girl who had it, and she expressed concern because, apparently, others had told her she was too fat.  Aside from the fact that it takes a real ass to tell a girl she is too fat, I was surprised that anyone had even thought so.  But I guess some people just like the super-thin types, whereas I prefer a bit of padding.  I told her not to worry, and rated her as an 8, which, in my opinion, she is.  But that's just my opinion.  Others may disagree, and nobody need be correct or incorrect.  There is no fact of the matter, since it's all subjective.

Anyway, thanks for the comment.

...Part of it is for the very reasons you stated. They only rarely reflect the actual personality/attitude of the hobbyist. And I don't blame hobbyists for that, I think that it is very much just part of the "culture".

But if reviews did not play such a big part in keeping providers and hobbyists safe, and actually attracting a specific clientele. I would have a strick no review policy.

when you write your first few you reviews..you will feel very awkward..the more you write the easier it becomes..i actually enjoy the 'juicy details ' section better..you can express yourself honestly and give any one who hopefully reads it a honest view of what to expect..leave out the exaggerations about your sexual prowess and the number of 'O' you had..keep it real and informative..a honest review will always get a thank you from the lady in question and hopefully more clients coming her way..after all..that is exactly why we are here..everything else is pretty much bullshit..

Yeah, it would probably benefit me to read more reviews in order to get a better understanding of how to avoid the raunchiness when writing the juicy details.  And I always try to be sensitive to privacy issues.  So hopefully my reviews will improve over time.

It's interesting that you mention the "culture" of hobbyists.  I would like to start a thread on that topic at some point, because I have some not-so-positive things to say about it.  Namely, I'm concerned that when hobbyists share stories to one another, that may desensitize us to the needs of our providers.  IMHO, we must never lose sight of the fact that they surely find parts of their job very disgusting, but do it anyway with a smile, out of their desire to provide good service.  I wish that us hobbyists were better at expressing our respect for our providers' commitment to service.  Some of my fellow hobbyists (not on this forum) seem not to even care in the first place.  Instead, I quite often hear from the girls I see that guys have treated them just awfully.  And that deeply troubles me.  And even when I try to express my respect for what these girls do, I'm often tongue-tied and unable to do so.

So I'm concerned that the culture of hobbyists may further aggravate this problem, by stressing our needs over theirs.

Maybe not though.  Like I keep saying, I'm new at this.  So I'm sure there is a lot for me to learn.

I agree with everything you posted, and share some of your tastes.

I understand that tastes are subjective and am okay with it. Whatever be the taste function, one can be conservative with it or go overboard giving 9s and 10s. I prefer conservatism and remembering that 7 is attractive and 8 is hot and that these are great, for any taste function.

It is fake reviews that bother me. And regarding non-fake reviews but reviews where a reviewer's 10 reviews have a preoponderance of 9s and 10s make the reveiws less valuable for me, and I guess that would be true for any consumer of the reviews.

I have seen some providers and not seen many. I like to read reviews by reviewers who have reviews of someone I have seeen as well as someone I am interested in - that tells me how much weight to give to the reviewer's posted assessment about the person I have not seen.

Right before I click on a new review of myself.  It's a mixture of excitement and dread when I face the cold, hard truth a.k.a. The juicy details.  While filling in gaps to the soft core porn MAD LIBS, the juicy details also fulfill every provider's "suggestion box" and makes us cringe at things we could have done better, all the while patting ourselves on the back for personal techniques knocking them out of the park.

Basically, if it weren't for the juicy details, we wouldn't get the oh-so-needed constructive criticism but I understand why some gents are a bit stand-off-ish as it can get a bit nitty gritty;). Thus, the freedom within the anonymity that a handle provides!

Keep up the colorful commentaries fellas and NEVER hold back!
