My very first job was working in a little Pizza place in Minnesota. I would gather the big dough balls, roll them out until they were completely flattened!
I have spent my life in Minnesota eating "flat pizza"... I am coming to Chicago next week and plan to explore the many different Pizza option's that Chicago has to offer!
Seriously, I have my heart set on some real Chicago Style Deep Dish- it has to be the best! Since I will be in Schaumberg and Oak Brook starting Monday, any ideas of places that might not be too far for me to get a taste?
Pizza Uno? Ginos? Lou Malnati's? Giordano's?
Maybe you have a favorite?
I also love Italian- any ideas for casual Italian in those areas?

Don't eat Uno's in either of those locations. The only place to eat Uno's pizza is at their original downtown location. The one's in the suburbs are more of a "franchised" Uno's pizza and just aren't the same. My recommendation is Lou Malnati's (there's one in Schaumburg on Roselle Rd.) and be sure to get the butter crust! And for Italian food in Schaumburg check out Maggiano's near Woodfield Mall.
It's in Elmhurst Illinois, about a 10 minute drive from OakBrook. Outstanding food. Personally I do not like deep dish pizza. All of the places mentioned here have it. Amici's has great thin pizza and outstanding Italian dishes.
In Oak Brook, you can try Capri on Butterfield for Italian, probaby actually in Oak Brook Terrace. Close enough to most of the hotels you are likely to be using. If you are over in Lombard, near Yorktown Mall, Tuscany is a nicer place, but more expensive, too.
Can't think of any decent pizza places in that area, sorry. And I do not know Schaumburg well.
Also on Butterfield, I really like Labriola for their sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Fairly near to Yorktown, in Lombard, as well.
Since you will be in Oak Brook go to Gullivers. Have the deep pan pizza. It's is like Burt's pizza.

Minnesota VS. Chicago Style Pizza?

A Real Pie - most wonderful unique taste, and experience. Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co - small place across from site of St Valentine's Day Massacre. Get a pie, a salad, and the mediterranean bread. It can be a wait to get in, but so worth it!!
I seriously don't know how Uno's has made it on to lists of "good" Chicago pizza. It's mediocre at best and I've never personally met anyone who thinks it's in the same realm as Giordano's, Lou Mal's or Ginos.
As for those 3, I actually like them all, they each do things differently enough that they are worth trying.
