You should always be leery of ANYONE asking for money up front.
BUT there are certain things that warrent it (such as overnights) and it is ladies that scam people in that way that make it much harder for us legit ladies who require deposits for multi hour calls.

What happens after you receive the number? Do you load a credit card or something? It's convenient on the senders side (if you trust her), just wondering what happens next.
The one that got me didn't have a record of rip-off. Like another poster, I was looking for something that would have become a long term arrangement.
The problem is, the rip-offs (obviously) change their names. Perhaps TER should have a rip-off warning board. But that may cause some problems for the innocent.
In my opinion, LTR's would be safer after you've met the lady. Was it a large sum?
It was only $360, but if I was going to get screwed for that amount, that WAS NOT the way I pictured it.
$200 gone. But, in some ways, their loss, since, had things worked out, I would have been willing to have a regular arrangement, particularly as it is impossible for me to ever deal in cash and I have to use paypal, credit cards, or checks, which most providers are simply not willing to take. A real dilemma, but on the other hand, something that has worked out well in the past on a few occasions. You do what you have to. I'm sure this won't be the last such money I lose this way.
Are these ladies reviewed, reputable, well known providers? If so, I think you should share the fact that they ripped you off!! I really am peeved by ladies who do stuff like this because it makes those of us who don't rip people off have a harder time.
I definitely agree that deposits are discrete and quick. Especially with the way the weather is now - I have never had issues with last minute cancellations, and lately I have.
I think I saw some of you are looking for a long term arrangement.... Are you looking on SD/SB sites? If SO I think you should stop looking there and just seek out providers that are reputable that do long term arrangements. (I do!) I just think if you go with a provider, it is a sure bet. Some "sugar babies" are not all that they SHOULD be. They think that they should get way more money for way less. I watched some show on TV and this girl wanted this guy to spend STACKS and didn't even feel she should have to have sex with him. I LOVE sd/sb relationships, they are my absolute favorite. Because I am not the type of provider that likes to meet a TON of new people all the time. I wish I could have just a couple of close friends that I see regularly. And sometimes I do- sometimes I don't. I understand a lot of hobbiests are in this for variety, but I am in this because I genuinely like to make friends. And I have made some people that I believe I will talk to for the rest of my life.
I am so sorry for you guys' getting ripped off. But sometimes thats what it takes to learn....
I agree with everything you've said here. Back when I was heavily into being a sugar baby (that's actually what got me into escorting), I was a part of a community full of girls who all had such a bizarre way of thinking. Things like put off sex as long as possible, or even "we're better than escorts 'cause we don't just offer sex." I still use the sites, though, because there are plenty of legitimate men out there looking for a bit of discreet fun, and, like Jamie, I'm in this to meet people I genuinely enjoy and who enjoy me, not just a million one-time encounters--though, those can be fun, too.

More and more ladies are asking for, (demanding?), deposits. Most XXX stars require them, and a lot of ladies that offer multi hour sessions require them. I've never been burnt, but I hate giving my cash up front to a lady I've never seen before. And when I hear about scams like this one, well, my ass tightens up as well as my wallet.
…if we spend good money on our dates.

I'm willing to lose. If the girl is the type who is going to rip me off for 200 bucks, it's cheap price to pay for that info. I'm also looking for someone to spend a lot of time with and it's better to know early if she can be trusted. Maybe I should require them to take advance payment? lol
Don't u guys do screening? Screening goes both ways, I would never give my money to anyone who doesn't have a solid reputation in their services..... There are lot of DISHONEST CRACKHEADS OUT THERE.... my suggestion..... Seek out reputable providers & you won't get scammed... Deposits are a good idea, I'm thinking of incorporating it...
That's why I rely on TER and justify the membership 12 months a year. If you're only seeing well-established, well-review providers, you don't end up taking one for the team. It may bump you up to a higher cost level of the hobby (you don't find a lot of well-established and consistently good providers under $200) but it helps avoid the disappointment of finding yourself on the losing end of a scam.
Of course, for me, I don't need a ton of variety (much rather become a regular with a small number of providers that I have good chemistry and comfort level with vs. a bunch of one-time encounters)...
