Don't follow the link, which could lead you to a hacker's website. Go directly to the RS2K website yourself, and renew there. Even if the link was a phishing tactic, you'll only be out $25 and have your credit card intact.

Seriously, you make sense and your right. Just go to the site and check it out. This is internet 101 for everything you get in an email. When in doubt, check it out. Still don't think it's safe. Don't do it. But don't trust any forum for anything like this whether it be yes or no.
Ok. So yeah, I got the email. I tried to renew, but the 2 ladies that now run the agency (Cathy passed away) said they could not find my information. They told me to fill out as a newcomer and said they would only charge me for renewal. I was denied. So evidently I’m not a room service member any longer. To bad. 20 years as a member and now I can’t renew, because I’m retired there is really no way for them to background check you. Kinda sucks considering all the hoops I had to jump through to get it in the first place.
RS2K has new owners now. Cathy sold it when her illness got the best of her. It came close to folding entirely, but was saved in the nick of time. This is America, so every owner can enact their own business model.
The new owners now charge $75 to sign up, and $25 to renew every year. It's a learning curve, but it's not as awful as it seems. P411 has been doing something similar since the day it was founded. And $25 is a nothingburger compared to how much we spend on even 1 hour, and that's even if you hobby once or twice a year.
When did she pass away? Last time I read the news, she got terminally ill, and sold the company because she was no longer in the condition to run it.
That said, I didn't get any e-mail. I hope my membership is still valid. I'm harboring some hope that I'll be grandfathered in as a lifetime member, because I signed up back in 2005.
It's not the money. We can all afford $25. It's making sure I don't fall prey to phishing scam and get my computer infected or my credit card compromised, which can lead to identity theft.
After seeing this thread, I got concerned too. So I e-mailed them. They told me my membership was active and in good standing. Your is probably too. E-mail them to find out for sure and spare yourself the wondering.
I asked Rs 2K About how they do their new memberships. I wanted to be able to give my clients good information now that I’m here and I’m using it all the time. They used to ask for something like $75 for a lifelong membership plus a one time $25 sign up fee. They are now asking for an additional $25 per year renewal charge. In their own words, the lifetime membership wasn’t “sustainable” Without a small annual renewal fee.
I reached out to them about renewing, just on a whim, since I heard somewhere it was a renewal scheme now. They responded with the renewal info but then told me that they could not find my info. They apparently kept looking, which was nice, and not too long after they sent me a message that they had found it, apologised for the confusion and I renewed. I set a reminder in my mobile for next year to renew again in case I do not receive a renewal notice. I think for all they do they deserve the small renewal fee they charge.
I was a member for over 15 years never a problem and Cathy was awesome. The two new ladies told me they lost my information and just go ahead and send a copy of my DL and they would just charge me 25 bucks. Sent the picture. next email I get is why I did I not fill out the form which I did. Please fill out the form and everything should be OK unfortunately they wanted the new member form filled out and I missed the employment part. I went back and filled that out then was denied. Extremely disappointing seeing how long I’ve been a member plus whitelisted on TER. so much for VIP status. many people having the same problem and since then I’ve seen a few providers they are not happy with room service. P411 it is
