about a week ago a posted a thread on the florida board lookling for a reference or two,from a local for who to contact in sarasota, where I am going to be for three long weeks.  no responses to the thread, to pm's, nothing.  I would like to believe, because it happens here when someone writes for help, someone will step up and help with some direction, which is the proper thing to do.  now I am just deciding if I should not only post this on our chicago board, but drop in on the florida board as well. ok everyone tell me what you think.  or am I just being pissed at people being typical, it's what I get for believing people can be more then they are.

I know nothing about what is going on in Florida however, if there are lots of busts going on, people may be uncomfortable responding.

but keep in mind that certainly does not paint you in the light that you desire.  

Most people are more then willing to help out established posters, those with a proven track record.  You don't have any reviews or white lists and very little board history.  Add that to the fact you are coming in from Chicago, people are going to be leary because we are well known for having a strong LE presence.

If you want to get responses you really need to contribute reviews and become white listed.  Or rather then relying on others suggestions do an advanced search for a provider in that area adding what you would like specs wise and then check the reviews and her site to make sure she is what you want.

If you want help, you have to give a little too and without being established(reviews/whitelists) many won't even bother.

Support TER w/your reviews & you'll get recommendations or PM's. Guys w/many & recent reviews get their ISO thread posted. Guys w/no reviews, I say let them do their owns search & due diligence.

BTW...I've been in the hobby for awhile, never did an ISO, it's just plane lazy IMHO. If I travel to another state, I do a search, read reviews, read the local board,  PM sum of the players & get advice. That's what VIP is for.

Feel free to post this on the Florida board, I'll dump it, & if your not already moderated...which you should be having/no reviews, I'll gladly moderate you until you post reviews.

It's basically turning into nothing but an ad agency for the same providers day after day trying to drum up business, trying to capture a glimmering spotlight.  You can see it for yourself under top ten posters.  With that said, there is also no longer commraderie amongst us "troops".  As they say, "The times are a changin".

They can be quite hospitable but with no reviews or board presence I wouldnt expect much help.

Maybe not a 'ton' of responses, but I received both post responses and PMs...

Have to ditto the mod when he says if you show no reviews, i doubt that anyone is going to invest the time to help.  I have had the opportunity to post is a few cities when i have travelled and have been quite pleased with the feedback from both men and women.

had a board history and a few reviews under your belt you would have received plenty of help. It's been my experience that most hobbyist on TER are open to exchange info and be of help.  Note a key word here.." hobbyist".  There is a huge difference between contibuting hobbyist and members.  Hobbyist submit reviews and contribute to board dialog. Members pay a fee and read board banter and simply glean info that others voluntarily share.  Members have the ability to research [ plenty of reviews you could check out]. And actually have every right to post a "help me" inquiry.  But , to answer your question....no...you should not be pissed off that a board community that does not know you and whom you've not been of assistance did rush to assist you.

it bothers me when a new client wants to see me with only their empty shell of a TER ID as validity of why I should see them... kinda annoying!

Im with GatorJim on this... sorry mr. Oldmagic... but I guess the decision is made for you on wether to be upset or not.

The moderator has a hard job with big city where alot of post come in so they nip  alot of issues in the bud. I Guess the term for today is be more active and interactive with the site. something I need to do also. People get upset when we cant get the infomation they want fast enough. Just like providers get upset when their links get messed up and have to go thru it reconfirming idenity. T.E.R. is just looking out for the Providrs as we as the Hobbyist...

On the DC board and then sit back and let them wear your ass out for not doing your own research and contributing. DC guys are brutal when its obvious you aren't contributing.

I do, do my own research. It's much better on choosing the right lady. I don't ask others opinion because I rather see her reviews. It's best to do it on your own.

Those who participate via the board, through reviews and by having a VIP membership are far better prepared to engage the board for recommendations. As Gator Jimmy said, who the hell knows you and who wants to risk giving a complete stranger his favorite gals info?  Just doesn't make sense.

It probably is true that he would moderate your ass so be careful. Heck, I don't post on his board because he would definitely moderate my ass.

Take some advice from GJ and others as well. Get your VIP and begin getting to know people on your local boards, some of our board members here are a wealth of information.
