Threads should not be closed just because someone sees railroad tracks on the horizon.
The threads were civil under the circumstances, and the community had their say and opinions.

This is not Disney land. Think about that.

I thought the moderate approach was just fine. Keep up the good work and you will have trained the new mods well.

I am sure moderating these types boards in almost thankless task, yet, I think the best moderation is to remove the posts of people of people who clearly have an axe to grind. Calling "train wreck" is akin to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater in relative terms. Thinking of the aforementioned situation, it was clear that both parties felt wronged. The ticklish part was there was no way in hell it could ever be worked out on this board. However, so long as there is a decent discussion going, let it ride. When people begin to take sides, call names, and get belligerent over nothing, closing down a thread is in order. It reminds me of an Uncle Remus tale whose moral was "just saying a thing is so, doesn't make it so."

In all due respect for our moderators...

Some of us who aren't paid VIP's get moderated for little things.

LITTLE THINGS...

This Piper thing, going on right now for two days, should have been shut down within the first thread. As one said, "Train wreck waiting to happen"...

But yet, there was no moderator to even make a comment.

How long must we watch this go on???

I can't possibly please everyone. My thought was to let him say his peace and let her respond. Then, the WK chime in and we have a classic train wreck.
To not allow his post would be wrong, and to not allow her to respond is wrong. Somewhere in the middle of all of that I need to make a decision, like I did this morning. Shut them down and be done.


In terms of moderating someone for something trivial, I'd like to see an example of one time I have done that. I pretty much allow the train to roll on, and only when things get out of hand do i step in.

Personally I think you both do a great job and I for one appreciate your candor and quick action when needed!

Funtimes... You guys do a rockstar job..  I'm sure you can have your hands full and have to make decisions that don't make friends.  Please, I hope you realize that you do a great job and it is noticed by all.

I hope no offense was taken, it wasn't meant to come off like that.  Those three threads were just becoming to painful to read (I know I didn't have to read them but, it was like a bad accident.  I just have to keep looking).

We are fortunate enough to live in a country where we have significant freedoms, at times on the boards those freedoms can be compromised.  I do agree that there is a point in which to terminate a banter that becomes a shouting match and name calling thread.  However, in this case that did not appear to be happening.  And for that reason, allowing the banter to continue might have been a good thing (in that it brought some members to post that had previously only been lurkers).  As adults on this board, I trust that not too much of what happens here is critical in our real lives.  What happens between the OP and the lady are between them, and we are just observers casually commenting on the issues at hand.

From my point of view, I enjoy reading various exploits that occur.  At times, it gives me pause to consider how issues may indeed affect me and my interests.  Needless to say, my livelihood is not connected in any way to the activities on this board, as I suspect are none of the majority of members.  However, I do feel that each of us may have something of value to add to a discussion.

And at the end of the day, if a reader feels like the thread is just not his/her cup of tea it is quite simple to just move on.  For those others however, it is entertaining to read the fantasies that other posters feel compelled to write about.

That's my 2 cents.

Hey-it's Piper-Thank you my dear! At the cost of a NEW asshole reamed-it meant alot to me..

The outpouring of love, support, new people, people in retirement, people who lurked, people who joined in. old friends, new ones...I couldn't have asked for a nicer sendoff. I have been sent emails, PMs, inquiries for appts, well-wishing in general. As I am retiring I am being bestowed with alll kinds of gifts, and yes, this was an unusual one-but the sentiment and solidity made my 4 years SOOOO worthwhile. Besides, I believe it was my first negative complaint on the board ( at least to my knowledge
I know you had your hands full, and I did my best to keep it civil-but just "thank you". You didn't let it have to go on, but I, for one truly appreciate it. As an added bonus I now have a date with Veronica Chase and a bevy of men! So Funtimes baby? YOU ROCK!!!!! Merry Christmas to you and thank you for being so wonderfully patient and accepting. Muahh!

The size of this community will certainly make a given post long if people have something to say about it. Frankly, the moderators do a good job.

You probably don't disagree with me all that often because saying that you agree with me with get you dirty looks, but somehow I don't think you care.
