I recall seeing in my phone bill a while back an announcement of a new area code for Chicago - the city.
Now.. I grew up with 312... and unfortunately I can say I have been around to see ALL the 'new' area codes be created...
So.. do you know them all? (am I missing any?) 312 773 708 847 630 815 (ok, not really Chicago, but I have seen some ladies with 815 #s) 224 331 - missed the announcement on this one 779 (not seen this one, but seems to overlap 815, so included it) 872 - newest one
So this 872 is in the city.. the worst part... now within 312, one has to dial '312'... now I feel really old...
... regarding the number of digits to push: a ridiculous amount of the phone numbers I call are already stored in my phone, so it just a maater of scrolling thru the list now-a-days.
You think that's old? Growing up in NYC, we had one telephone in the entire house. It had a number that had a word prefix (Boulevard 3 - xxxx).
Then we moved to the burbs and had phones without dials. When we picked it up, we'd get connected to an operator and had to ask for the number. In town, it was just the four digits ("Give me 2653, please.").
Count yourself old when you can't piss or you have to have someone hold it for you to piss. You are old if in your grown up body, someone has to feed you, tie your shoes, and wipe your ass.
AC changes are readily announced and it by chance you missed one or two, all is not lost.
I didn't realize that there were so many area codes in Chicago.
On my cell phone, I have to dial the area code for every call, even ones in my own area code. That mean I had to go into my contacts and add the area code for all of them.
