1. It is a Visa/Mastercard giftcard....
2. I can verify the balance on the giftcard at the time of the appointment.

Sincerely....

Kendall

Sometimes I will accept smaller gift cards to places I regularly shop, no more then 200$ though.  The Visa/MC/Amex I will accept in any $ amount but I do ask for the receipt and check out the cards 1st just to make sure.  I once had someone try to give me an empty card so I try to be careful...  Licks, Sage

use the card for other expenses you'd pay in cash and give the lady something that she wouldn't have to waste your time together checking and verifying that you aren't giving her an already used up worthless gift card?

Seems best to ask the specific lady you want to see, then you can't make a faux pas or offend her. I would take it, but I would donate the card to my favorite charity and basically be seeing you gratis. If the lady is using a hotel, she may need to put actual $$ into her account to cover it, or perhaps she'll use it to cover her bills she can pay by phone that month, no way to know without checking with a lady directly.

What if you don't have the receipt but you can show the balance online?

All cards have an 800 phone number and the card's serial number on both the package and the card itself. It's a simple matter to verify the amount. I have been fortunate to have had quite a few ladies accept Visa/MC/AmEx cards from me, but ...

Make sure you know/trust the client. It is all too easy to keep a copy of the SN and, after the session, call in and report the card stolen or lost. That never entered my mind until a lady I had seen several times told me it happened to her. But she did accept the cards from me.

On the plus side, it is a good way to "launder" hobby funds if you have a spouse who is involved with your personal finances as mine is. Don't buy cards from Meijer. Their monthly statements show what categories of items made up each transaction. If Gift Cards shows up, you better have a good explanation ready.
