...and my content is not even SO explicit. Still, some of it wanders into the explicit realm.
I also produce (not terribly explicit but sexual and well-done) teaser videos for my advertising. I know for a fact that lots of guys sit and jerk off to them, but that's no competition against the real in-person deal. Guys who can afford it will indulge in an appointment and feel like they're getting to meet a porn star in person, and guys who can't afford it will jerk off (ideally quietly and anonymously behind their screens).
If it doesn't bother you that your explicit images will be out there on the internet forever and ever, then releasing them will always appeal to a niche segment of the market and turn off another section of customers. But we both know that porn stars command higher rates for a reason, and if you give your marketing that type of edge in a well-done manner, it can yield positive results for you as well.
I always think that differentiation is a good idea in this business. But you should only take your marketing in a direction that truly suits you and your product/persona. If you enjoy producing explicit content and think you'll like the type of guys that are attracted to it, then GO FOR IT!
I don't feel that my business has suffered for edging on the side of the explicit a little bit. But explicitness works with my overall branding, you know what I mean? I'm pretty explicit in conversations on the boards too. The only place I don't allow explicit conversations is in my booking emails, particularly with new/unscreened clients.
And definitely, many many guys have made the comment to me that they love my videos because when they finally meet me, it feels like they are meeting a porn star in real life at long last. They definitely sometimes mention how many times they jerked off to my erotic teaser videos. And it certainly didn't stop any of them from booking me. I assume many more guys feel the same way but failed to disclose to me their personal business regarding how many times they jacked off to my photos & videos...
TL;DR: In this business, you do you, and that means, if you like being explicit & are comfortable with the long-term commitment of putting explicit images of yourself online, don't be afraid to be a little explicit in your marketing! The guys who like ladies like you will be attracted to it. If you're not fully comfortable with it, then definitely don't, as it will likely attract guys you're not truly compatible with.
