Even better, turn it off when not in use...

There's an ABC news segment on spyware that can be installed on cell phones to track your whereabouts, record your texts, and even see what your cell camera sees. Reports of spouses installing this on a cheating husbands phone are noted in the story. Find the story on yahoo's home page - it's titled "Beware of Cell Phone Spying"

Oops, my mistake, I got beat up for this a couple of weeks ago, lol. I agree with the cash-only pay-per-minute hobby phone which I do use. Keeping it hidden is the hard part. And the more you hide it, the less accessible it is and guess what, you don't see the calls you're expecting until it's too late. I'm the poster child for this mistake. :-)

I always use a prepaid cell phone for fun and leave my phone powered off in a secret hiding place.

There's also two other programs out there which are still legal.

1) Trapcall is a program which is available to unmask Caller ID.  This programs gives up alot of info.  This program works and is still legal.

2) Spoofcall is a program where someone can enter a different number other than their own and also make their voice sound like a male or female. This program also works and is still legal.

These programs were featured on various news programs a year ago.

Hide it in parts

battery somewhere
body another place
cover elsewhere

.. away from the cash too

never do the parts come together as a functioning unit 2 miles from your own place.

can't think of one off the top of my head. Don't even suggest the workplace, nothing gets hidden there. Maybe I should make like a dog and bury my bone(r)...

Actually the only safe thing to do is remove the battery from the phone. Then the spy tricks can not work. Not just turn it off. That won't stop the spy program.

Perhaps I did not clarify:  Do not have the battery in the phone within 2 miles of your place and do not have the battery out of the unit NEAR the phone when at home.  IE:  make it a worthless phone that you 'found' (if it's discovered).

"Oh that?  It's dead.  I thought I would donate it to one of those places that keeps asking for old cell phones for soldiers"    Brownie points!   :)

With all these method of spying on cell phones, they make a trusty old landline look top-secret in comparison.  I'm single now, so I don't have much to worry about, other than LE.  But I'm sure I'll have to be a lot more careful in the future, in case I decide to hobby after getting married (you know, when my wife "is not in the mood" or "has a headache" for weeks on end).  If the spying technologies are like this now, they're certainly not going to let up in the future.

My phone is off when I need it to be.  I am responsible for keeping my appointments.  I am also responsible for staying in the hobby.
