I am thinking that the fun you want is akin to what is discussed here. Well, you are far piece from places like Bloomington and Peoria where there is fun aplenty. However, there is Springfield which is a lot closer. Ol Abe Lincoln practiced law in Decatur before moving over to Springfield. I am betting if you check into that area, you might get lucky.

True. I don't think about Champaign much but there used or perhaps this is an air force base in Rantoul. Suffice to say there's action to be had albeit you might have to dig a little deeper.

Howdy !! Been a while and apparently I am having navigation issues with the new
layout (new to me). I searched for Decatur in forums to no avail, anybody have suggestions?

It is at least an hour drive between Springfield and Decatur, you may want to check on Champaign, it is a little closer.

I tried to do yelp search to no avail either. The surrounding cities turned up strip clubs. Nothing within 30 miles. This is a fairly decent sized town with a university. I would think there would be something! So far only the adult book shop.  

The Rantoul AFB I believe is shutdown. There is not much happening there. Just another small town struggling.

Your best bet is Springfield, then Bloomington.
In Decatur, your better off watching a movie at home!!

There's a college there. Do what I used to do: call a sorority and talk to whoever answers. Tell 'em you need a date. It helps if u have a buddy so a double date can be arranged--the girls will be excited to have an adventure with such an enterprising guy. You've gotta have a facility of language to make the sale. It's worked for me and I had a blast--so did she.
