Chicago fun spot

The Thomas Hotel on Rush street is a great location for excellent restaurants, nightclubs and bars that are just steps from the front door. Gibson's is a block away.   It's also walking distance to Oak Street Beach, where in the summer you can  cool off while spying the hottest, beautiful women you could ever find.  Shopping on North Michigan is also within walking distance.  The El Train is very close too.  You can shoot up to Wrigley Field and see a Cubs game if they're in town.

I've been in Chicago frequently this last year and I still haven't found what I feel is the best spot to stay. Headed again soon. I prefer hotels in areas where I can walk to some fun stuff, restaurants, etc. and that have suites with a little more room for a nice (and eventful) date night in the room. Anybody have their favorite spot? Feel free to message me and appreciate suggestions.

The Robey is right in the middle of the action. I just don’t know about room size.

Rooms are small.  Not sure if they have suites.

Great location though.

The Hotel Zachary has some nice suite options.

Or so I hear…

That's actually one of my favorite spots but room service menu is limited.  Uber Eats is what I've been using there.

The suites upon upgrade are fantastic though.  Pricing varies dramatically depending on baseball season as it's across from Wrigley.

Another favorite but always in suburbs so walking distance is out.

The mirror ceiling and wall mirrors are novel.

Luv the Sybaris for an afternoon rendezvous!

Yes but it’s been years! Back in the day my best friend and I used to share one and then call guys. It was a fun day but need to be careful on getting them in as they do monitor.

Hi JayB2027,

I have stayed on Magnificent Mile, towards the north end, and it's very vibrant, lots of people out, great shops. Good restaurants in walking distance.

One time I stayed an extra day because I was getting a lot more inquiries as I was about to fly home, and I booked a DayUse in the Gold Coast area - so not far from where I was. That area was great too, shops all over the place, a Whole Foods or something simlar, and the hotel was classy (though a little more compact/ less floor space) and a little bit spendier - but still worth it.

A few times I met a friend of mine and we hung out closer to the river walk and the loop. It's my understanding that this is more of the Financial District/ Central Business District. I was there on a Friday evening, there were some people around, we found a cool rooftop bar with amazing views. But it felt relatively empty which makes sense like there is probably more of a weekday 9-5 crew there.

xoxo

There are a lot of good hotels in Near North Side (River North, Gold Coast, Old Town, Streeterville, Near North), and that's where you're going to get a lot of happening stuff in terms of restaurants, museums, other activities (plus close to the Loop).

Off the top of my head in that area...the Acme is a really nice hotel, comfy for what it does (was going to see a local provider, but she cancelled last minute). Saw a touring provider from Detroit at The Gwen, that was swank (has a nice bar). I want to say I've been to the Peninsula with Alma Selene (and that was nice), but I'm not sure.

If you want something "hipper," I'd recommend Wicker Park/Bucktown, but there are far fewer hotels around compared to Near North Side, so you may have a harder time getting a place to stay (though it is off season now, so it shouldn't be that bad).

Anything in city is awesome ……

Oak Brook

Plenty of hotels
Mall near
Excellent dining options

Magnificent Mile is a phenomenal area with an abundance of options. Several of the upscale hotels in the area have spacious suites. It's perfectly positioned with the Riverwalk to the south and Gold Coast to the north. There are amazing restaurants on or near North Michigan Ave. Regarding activities like sightseeing, films, live music, or museums, there's a lot to do within walking distance.

I frequently stay at the Godfrey Hotel. Located in River North with great access to shopping and amazing restaurants if you’re a foodie. The rooftop at the Godfrey is a great time. Although I’m not sure how it would be during the week as I only stay there on the weekends. Amazing drink menu and the breakfast up there is decent too. Their suites are roomy and rates are very reasonable.
