I have an upcoming trip to Chicago and will be staying downtown, but I have a date in Scaumburg and can’t see any way of getting there in a timely and cost effective way.  Does anyone have any suggestions for making the trip, or is it one or those situations where you simply “can’t get there from here?”

Barring a really expensive cab or ride share, you are SOL.

I've taken Lyft from Chicago to Elgin for under $50. If you don't want to mess with the train there's no better way. Sure it's not super cheap but it's feasible.

You'll need a Ventra card but they sell them right there before the trains. The bus will take cash, but it has to be exact.
