I am looking forward to my first trip to Chicago this summer, and I'm curious.... which part(s) of Chicago is most convenient for hobbyists?  Where would you recommend I stay?

Downtown ohare or if you want to go to the suburbs outside of Chicago,just stay away from elk Grove village.That spot is hot and I know from experience.

I prefer downtown because I live downtown or Oak Brook for a suburban location.
