cold and yukky does it really get in the winter time there? I mean do you get enough snow that it's tough to get around when there's a storm kinda thing. And just how cold does it really get and for how long. Do you curse every time you have to go outside lol. Do the city's pros far outweigh the cons (the climate) considering no place is perfect from your perspective...anyhow, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you so much in advance for your insight on this for those who live and breath it everyday.

Chicago has a variety of climates all in one location.
Summer - Hot and Humid, not everyone or every event is air conditioned
Winter - Fucking cold. Especially last winter
Spring - Wet and Chilly
Fall - Most beautiful season ever!

The cold is all about your attitude and snow is awesome. There's nothing like going outside in the crisp night air with shovel in hand to clear the stairs and get a good workout. The first snow people forget how to drive but after that it can be fun slip sliding away. The winter can last from before Thanksgiving up until  May or from Christmas to February. If you enjoy all four seasons like I do there is no better place to live than Chicago.

Hello there! I've lived in Chicago for most of my life, so I think I got a pretty good grasp on the weather.

So.... is it cold? Yup. From my perspective, there are only about three nice months of weather for the whole year. Many people enjoy autumn here, but I find it a touch cold for my liking. Winter is long, treacherous, and seems to go on forever...especially last winter. Many people I know experience some form of seasonal depression from the winter here. Spring is also pretty cold, sometimes gets a couple snow falls, and tends to be rainy. But I love summer here! I'm a serious heat junkie, and it almost never gets unbearably hot. If the summer lasted year long, I'd consider Chicago the best place on earth. Unfortunately, it does not. I think one day I'll end up moving, and it won't be because Chicago is a bad place, but it will be because this weather finally got too much in the way of my happiness. Hawaii seems more my speed.

Does the snow ever make for bad travel? Oh goodness yes. Some bad snow fall days, it can take two hours or more to make a trip that could be completed in less than 30 minutes in moderate traffic. Sometimes you can honestly walk places faster than you can drive... but on the plus side, Chicago is usually well prepared for the shitty weather, and has plenty of snow plows out and about, getting major streets and highways. Once streets are plowed and salted, it's usually pretty smooth sailing. Still can be black ice, though.  

Another point worth sharing, is that side streets in Chicago proper often don't get plowed, no matter how bad the snowfall is. And don't get me started on people with their calling dibs on parking spots.... gaaahhhhh

Despite the harsh winters though, Chicago is a truly wonderful place, full of beautiful people, tons of entertainment, art, music, and is really a world class place to live.

I don't know if that was helpful, but that's my take.

No beautiful, I'm sorry I  don't remember you complaining lol. Of course I know it's cold, but my point was, does the awesome city outweigh the cons of the climate year round. New York is cold too but is NewYork. Same with Philly, it's just Philly. Is Chicago, the city, worth it in your book? That's what I want to know. No place is perfect. And yes of course 'we' can grab a drink, just you and I.

But lunch is saved for paying customers only, non slopestyle of course.  

For those who cant keep it on topic, you can research anything out the ass, but nothing is better than hearing it directly out of those who live there year round for feedback. I was hoping to hear from the locals and not the peanut gallery here. Ayaya, don't you boys have anything better to do? Good gracious.

Sounds no different than the northeast like I thought. How would you compare NYC vs Chicago then in that respect.

I've been to NYC quite a few times and see a number of similarities. The thing is Chicago is about a third the population and I know it like the back of my hand. NYC has it all with the five burrows but for whatever reason seems distant and not as friendly. Service at restaurants, sporting event and ladies just seem better in Chicago. When it does get cold who doesn't like to snuggle up to keep warm.

Maybe I'd consider taking you to Manny's for lunch however.

Who knows...maybe some of my pals might be there as well.  

At least I know they're open before 11:30 for lunch.  A while back I was meeting a gal pal of mine at Cheesecake and damn...they weren't open for lunch yet.  Ended up at The Bagel.  But this gal eats like a fucking bird...but she is a sweetheart.  Maybe she'll go to Manny's with us?

After last winter - fuck sticking around while my skin freezes to my pants. No thank you lol. I will 'tour' bi-weekly back to Chicago in the winter to warm up my lovers out here and dust off my Incalls... But that's about it lol.

And yes, I may be regularly visiting a couple Chicago and suburban incalls. Networking is great out here. Now, if you have been here, it's much less congested and a clean city compared to NYC. But nothing compares to the sexy NYC accents. Uhhhhhhh. Ok I'm done.

Manny's is in the south loop area...and you know I hate downtown.

If you're not up for a Chicago institution...your loss.

Not to mention I always have a "grand" time with friends.  Maybe someone will be happy to pay to watch you eat....that won't be me however.
