Price, dear JC, is one major reason —as no doubt has been pointed out many times by many others— as well as finding someone somewhat "under the radar," [ditto], minus the inflated attitude that many of the more heavily promoted and patronized ladies may have [double ditto].

If one researches carefully and uses a little common sense, it's possible to avoid some of the obvious pitfalls.  Nowhere does the idea of caveat emptor not apply.  I have met some very pleasing, very appealing ladies via Backpage and have way overpaid in a few instances in the case of those ladies armed with the elaborate advertising and contact mechanisms.

In this era of unbounded self-esteem and feminism triumphant, I'm not going to be so foolish as to argue with anyone's opinion of themselves, but reality does have a way of injecting itself —sometimes inconveniently in the minds of some.
