Now Tar Heels are headed to Detroit.

One of four teams there.

They were one of the four top seeds.

Maybe I am missing it but to me it looks like they were rated as one of the top four teams and now they are one of the four teams left.

So where is the overrated part?

Plus, if anyone noticed they beat the Sooners yesterday without Ellington and Psycho T getting to double figures in scoring.

It looks like they are not only rated correctly but DEEP! How many other teams have as many quality players as UNC? Have two of their best with sub-par games in a regional final and still beat one of the best teams in the country by 12?

How many teams win with two of their best players not having their average games?

I understand some people do not like UNC, I get it! That is part of what makes all of this so much fun! I do not like some other teams but that does not mean I see them as less than they are in reality. It just means I do not like them!

Like them or not UNC has a great team this year. If you just do not like them but WHUP, just be accurate in your assesment.

Anyone who feels they are overrated, make a case, just do not share a baseless opinion.

I feel like I have based my opinion not only coming from my affection for the team but facts.

The only factual assesment is they are one of the four teams left with a chance to win the Big Dance this year.

The heels have yet to play a good team. OU chokes at almost every competitive championship they get to and the heels are an average team in a below average conference this year. It's not that hard to get 20+ wins (with or without their best players) when you're in a shitty conference now , is it?

Kansas proved that last year against an even stronger heels team LAST yr. But I guess you have a short memory now don't you?

Now you know UNC does have the deepest team,
I'll take a balanced team to a one man stud team any day.
While Blake had a good game he didn't get any help.
Unc should be loaded for bear next year as well with the recruits coming in.
You are right, the ACC did have a down year.

I pick Villanova over UNC.

ANY team from anywhere in the country that makes it to the sweet 16 and the elite 8 deserves respect.

Whie the ACC might not have been the strongest conference this year, they are known for always being one the of best.

Personally I think UConn is the one to watch out for this year ib the tournament. UNC has played their ass off in the tournament this year. When it gets down to the Final Four, one thing you can be sure of....you'll be watching some really great college basketball

The Tar Heels have played 36 games. They have won 32. Even Jay Bilas a Dukie himself has been singing the praises of the Heels all year!

I have been having great fun with this thread and hope it continues BUT WHOA some of the stuff I have heard is pretty funny.

I do not mean to be a stuck up terd cause I have liked a team that has been so good so long. We have had out lean times too, what, BD(Before Dean)!

So I want to have fun discussing this without getting nasty. I do not have to take Duke apart, no effective play from the point, no established threat in the paint.....to make the Heels look good. Hey, after next year when they get the brother Curry maybe their play at the point will be much better!

The Blue Devils WERE a good team this year and had a good year. The Tar Heels this year just happened to be better.

As far as not playing anyone any good. Their RPI rank when I looked it up today is 3!!!!! If they are not playing anyone any good WHO ELSE IS THERE TO PLAY? The LAKERS?????? The CELTICS??????? LOL


I am saying that with emotion, YES, but can anyone answer it? I mean if you can answer it and put me in my place with an accurate answer, fire away!

I guess what I am also getting at IF everyone sucks, who can you play to get an opinion from some that you are actually pretty good!

One other thing, they did play one other final four team early this year. Michigan State. They beat them December 3rd 98-63. Is Michigan State one of those teams they clobbered that wasn't any good? Well hells bells there are two really bad teams in the Final Four.

I will admit MSU is MUCH better than when the Heels clobbered them, so are the Heels!

Anyway, it is great fun to banter back and forth and hope anyone who answers just is having fun like I am. Just try to back up your passion with fact, not just biased opinion. Deal?

The Heels are good and do have the potential to run the table and be great.

All four teams left in my book are pretty darn good and so are some of the teams that are out, ie Duke, Oklahoma, Memphis, Pitt!

In the end there can only be one! I hope this year it is Ole Roy and the boys!

One last thing, the people who think UNC sucks do you also think Tiger Woods is an overrated golfer???? hehe

He did not show up yesterday, like in any Big Game he has played in. Lawson,Green and Thomas carried him on their backs.

He is a 20 something kid who walks on a great college campus as if he was a God! Think he would have ANY trouble getting laid in Chapel Thrill?

Anyways, what I think is pretty cool is ya think Ole Roy is a pretty good coach? Being a good ole boy from the mountains of NC like Roy I have a great deal of respect for him as a coach and as a human being! Just a top notch good ole country boy, right?

If you were to sit down and ask Hall of Fame Member Coach Ole Roy who was the best he ever coached all things concerned. It would not take long and he would just probably say, "Tyler".

He is a good all american kid who plays harder, longer than anyone I have ever seen play basketball. Michael played hard and was more gifted but he left early for the NBA.

Any team that gets in the final four has to be proud. NC has proven their merit, maybe not as much as the talking heads said at preseason, but they are there. My Terps beat them but they seem to have their number in recent years and they weren't that good this year. I also have to agree the ACC was not up to it's usual par this year despit it's number of rated teams. I have them in one of my pools but I need them to lose to win it. LOL

My recently deceased brother bled blue if you cut him so I'm going to root for them in his honor and I really do think they are a very good and very deep team.
