Fist off, let me thank "shifterp" for his reply to my previous posting and suggesting I start a new thread since I was late joining the fist one.

OK folks - I'm new to this hobby. I had a couple of providers ask me to go to a web site and fill out credit card details complete with security code so they could verify I was over 18...not a cop... etc etc. No charges would be processed they said....
Of course I did not proceed... end of story.

That is one side of the verification issue that is clearly a scam.....do correct me if I'm missing something here.

Then of course there's the fill out the form complete with your work number..company...etc. - Oh sure....

Finally there's the reference check. That actually seems to be fairly reasonable except in cases like mine.

I have been married a long time and only recently saw my first provider and that was in Europe!  
I intend only to see providers here in the U.S occasionally.  How on earth is a provider that saw me 6 or 8 weeks ago going to remember me to be able to give a reference?

Update: Maybe if I dye my pubic hair blue....lol
In theory reference checking is fine, if you're a busy guy out there enjoying visits every other week with different providers, but not many of us I would think could quite afford that luxury.

"Shifterp" mentioned a couple of verification sites which I intend to look at however some I have seen already require some type of payment. OK, of course I realize there's a cost for this, but again, here we have the credit card paper trail. Records like this can be misused, made public, etc etc.
Mostly this is and should be a cash business. For everybody involved.

Frankly the "profession" should be legalized like it is in many countries and that alone would alleviate many of the problems.
