Sorry, can't remember the site or the link but I remember reading over the summer that some Mayan expert said that all these doomsdayers are wrong.  He said that the correct translation is that it's the end of a phase or era in the Mayan calendar, not the end of the world.  So don't anyone blow their entire bankroll on providers, you'll need some for new Years.

Liquidate IRA, book morning, afternoon, and evening sessions with top-tier NC providers each day until the apocalypse.  Then, on the final day, book 10 favorites for a moonlight cruise to watch the world end.  (If the world doesn't end, extend for another 12 hours)

Some Mayan historians say the end of the calendar marks a new era.  Apparently civilization will enter a new phase of heightened consciousness and peace.  Unfortunately I don't really see that happening with everything going on right now
