As a runner and biker, I see the farmers tan as a sign of an active lifestyle

I've never tried them and I'd hate to not be able to exfoliate my skin regularly because it would come off. And yeah it's always obvious on a persons hands. I'm naturally tan but I do use the tanning bed every couple of weeks because it helps keep my skin clear. I have tried that Jergens natural glow stuff? I think it was helpful, was a long time ago.

Have you tried the Airbrush tan?  They are a lot better than a spray tan and the color is tailored to your skin tone.  I got one despite a friend saying I'd look orange and he was amazed it was a fake tan.  It's a bit high maintenance but I actually like the color better than how my skin naturally tans.  If you are in the RDU area I can recommend a great place.

A lady did an outcall to my hotel. She looked fantastic but had just did a spray tan. Honestly I'm not sure exactly what that means. I believe a tanning booth was involved.  At any rate she explained that she wanted to really look great for me and cover her " farmer " tan.  
She did indeed look fabulous . But the scent was not pleasant. Plus the sheets on my bed were stained by what rubbed off ( I'm talking about the  tanning stuff you perverts ) . And it took a pretty long shower for me to get the stuff & smell off of me.
The residual aroma lingered in my room long after she left. And I couldn't use the sheets on my bed as the tanning crap would rub off on me , plus the lingering oder was unpleasant.  

There may be nothing more sexy than a beautiful tan woman.  Yes, I also often am drawn to women with white porcelain skin, but an island tan in spring/summer/early fall is super intoxicating.  It can be totally fake, from real outdoor activity, from a tanning booth (not very healthy), or from a day at the beach, but the look not only is alluring to the raw attracted eye but also it seems to fuel a confidence that is equally sexy.

Comfort in her skin and confidence in her skills. Try to protect your skin, it is the only one you have.

UGH! She should have done it the day before and showered! If you had spray tan stains on your sheets, she hadn't showered yet.  I did it once for a photoshoot and left it done overnight for the best results. I showered  the day of the shoot and no tan stains on the bed (it still smelled a tad weird,
