So yesterday two of my son's come in while I am watching baseball and say "look what we found in the garage dad" and they are holding an 18 inch long garter snake!  Fortunately I am cool with snakes as long as they can't eat me or poison me LOL! So naturally they ask if they can keep it.  I said yes as long as they don't scare their sister with it! Of course our dachshund is flipping out because she thinks it's a new toy LOL! They have it an aquarium with a heat lamp, stone,  log, crickets,  and minnows.  So (I can't believe I am asking this ) are there any snake lovers out there that have some advice?

I probably won't be able to get a date after this post!

I agree with OldTed. The only snakes I like live just behind a zipper.

I know how fun it is to see wildlife up close and personal.....but it's not much for the wildlife. Your snake has gone from the beautiful and exciting outdoors into a glass square where I gaurantee you, it is absolutely miserable.

If I were you, I'd let your boys play with it for a few days. Then stress to your boys the importance of respecting wildlife and place it back in it's natural habitat.

But that is just me
