Havent done the State Fair, I usually hit the Dixie Classic, in WS.  I love Elephant ears and Root beer Floats.  Of course hotdogs and cotton candy all go along with it.  Love the shows that are put on.  That guy that cuts wood with a chainsaw and makes statues out of them is there every year.  I like to watch a man work.  Could do it all day.  (Cause I am sitting drinking my float.

Love the state fair, we normally take the train from charlotte, we hit the cafe car as soon as it opens, start with bloddy marys and screwdrivers, it is afterall 8 in the am. By the time we get to the fair we have a good glow on. This makes walking through the livestock section lots of fun. Of course there is always lots of fun fair food and rides. Mostly, its just fun drooling at all the local women. However for you, SexyCarolina, I would recommend the live stock area, so you can see the prize winning bulls; and then think of me.

The State Fair is great!  Enjoy roasted corn, fudge from the All-American Fudge Company, or any of the fried concoctions they come up with every year.  The Village of Yesteryear spotlights specialty NC craftsmen and women.  I always enjoy the garden exhibit:  every year it's a different theme so professionals and amateurs take that theme and run with it.  Also see the decorated Christmas tree in Dorton Arena (great place for bathroom break as well).  Have a great time!  It is a fun celebration of NC productivity.  I'm excited for you as a first-timer.  Hope you love it!
