As someone who has organized and hosted very classy and well received and attended M&G's in Fla. I obviously have a completely different view of what a M&G should and shouldn't be.
Hey Bobb3950, in my defense, I mentioned MC because an earlier post mentioned the paper doll and that is pretty run down now. I would like to hear your suggestions on what worked and didn't work.
Find a club that has civilians, that way you dont have to worry about LE. If they have an upstairs, aks if you can use the upstairs for a 3 hour party.
I would think any decent downtown hotel. Rent a meeting room, have some refreshments and maybe a cash bar to serve beer and wine.. I've never been to one but you may consider charging a small admission. Maybe someone else can shed more light on this.
In NNJ where I'm from the M&G are usually held in a private room of a cocktail bar or restaurant. Charging a modest fee to those invited will cover any cost associated with renting a room (and usually, depending upon the crowd, will cover the rental of the next event) Everyone I've ever been to has been VERY beneficial to both hobbyists and providers.
