I have never been to a M&G but would probably like to, if the opportunity arose.  

The one thing I would be nervous about is M&G in "my own backyard" as it were. Are these held in clubs closed for "private parties"? In a location like a rave might be? I know that there is an element of trust before an invitation is extended here. But in what way (by the M&G design/location, etc.) are those attending protected from someone else making a public connection? It seems like such a gathering could draw unwanted attention of the initiated, as it were.

There have been several scheduled over the past 4 or so years, but all were canceled for various reasons, most of them not good.

Maybe someone will be brave enough to try again, but I think many of us are just too gun shy to try again.

There has been some gatherings but they havent been very big.  There is no way to have a full out big one like lets say the DC one.  In some ways it sounds great and in other ways they they can be a little intimidating.

It seems damn near impossible to put an M&G together in the Carolinas.  
I have wandered why its so hard to do ? While I have come to my own conclusion as to why, it is sad that a rotten apple ruins the whole barrel.

In many ways they are still small towns. I would guess that most people on this board would not attend one in their hometown. I know I wouldn't. Every time I go out, I run into someone I know. Now, I would attend a low key get together in Raleigh and I bet some in Raleigh would attend in Charlotte. Maybe that's how you do it.

Of course you wouldn't attend. Pretty tough to get Julia and Corrine ine same room at same time no? At least since you're too good to attend, you've offered your genius on 'how to.' Thanks!

There's only 2 titty bars here, one I worked for the owner for 5 years or so....
If he would be called after planning such a M&G, he'd tell whoever to "F.ck Off. Long as they GOT THE MONEY."

And it wasn't a matter of attendance numbers, it was someone with an ax to grind. And I agree no fanfare on the boards.

It was a different time on TER when these were planned. You could post threads about the party on the discussion boards, whoop it up, ect.

Everyone I've attended had either an Evite board or a google  group board. those work best.

Myself and one of our dear moderators (god rest him) hosted a M&G in Charlotte. It was only maybe 20-25 people but we had a blast. Several amazing ladies from Atlanta came up for it. Since then? People seem more interested in sabotaging them. Its really pathetic and sad. Most likely haters that couldn't stand not being invited.  

 We had another M&G planned, BIG guest list, many people were coming in from Atlanta once again, girls and guys, most people already had checked into their hotels. It was brought to my attention from multiple people that they heard on the radio that the co-host of the radio show heard from her friend that the friend had gone in her hubbys emaill, and saw something about a "hooker happy hour" taking place uptown. My in box was flooded with mail. Because we had no way to safely re-screen people, we decided to cancel it. Was it true? Never found out for sure. Probably not. But I will go to my grave protecting peoples safety. Whether they appreciate it at the time or not. I mean if a guys email has been compromised, and we don't know who it was, what are you going to do??  

We tried once more to host a M&G, and a lady who used to be quite a regular here and myself were working on it. She called me and said that someone had called around to all the bars uptown Charlotte and warned them of our party. They happened to call the place it was booked at, because she said the bar manager called her and asked if she knew what the unknown caller was talking about. So for safety it was cancelled again. And since then we washed our hands. We are about 90% sure of who was behind these acts, but you can't prove it. So we've since moved on, and just try and keep shady people on the radar. I've been to other M&Gs, in NYC, Washington DC, Tampa, etc, and its fun, but I personally won't be hosting one again.
