/BEGIN RANT/

Ladies,

This may be a broad generalization but it seems to be happening more often lately (at least to me).   If you require initial contact by email be sure to answer it in a timely fashion.  Nothing turns me off more than getting an email response 3+ days after I first sent it in asking if I still want a date.  Probably not, if you cant respond in a timely fashion then that says a lot.  I realize that an instant response is not always possible but within 24hrs should be a no-brainer.  If you don't check emails frequently don't advertise it and especially don't require it for an initial contact.  If you are traveling and won't be able to check it then perhaps before you leave note that on your ad/website.

Just my 1/2 cents worth

Well, I check my email every day and I do reply as fast as I can.But if the guy ask to many questions thats not allowed or already on my site, I usually ignore him or let him know I dont answer email like that, but what pisses me off is when I ask for a reference from another provider and they never answer me back..and it is weeks in advance

Yes we are all of the instant, microwave age...little or no patience...however too many factors come into play when checking or responding to emails...what may be considered timely to you may not have the same meaning to others....I learned long ago that it is best to try to line up my "dates" a couple of weeks in advance...of course that is my nature in all my doings...expecting a lady to respond each and every time within 24 hrs in not reasonable IMHO....remember these ladies do have a life other than just in this biz and quite often that other life must take priority....for example, school starts for most schools next week (I am talking about K-12) and many of these ladies who have kids are having to do many things last week and this week getting things in order for school so therefore they may not have many opportunities to be online to check for messages.  Likewise the ladies who are college students themselves might have spent most of the past 2 weeks getting themselves ready for school and starting classes.
So give the ladies more respect and be thankful they are here for us, even when it might not be as instanteously as we would like.
And most importantly IMHO it is more important that we all properly communicate so there are not any No Shows and timely cancelations when they are necessary.
Just my $.02 for what it is worth.

It is also not at all uncommon for the sender's email server to have a delay of a day or two before it even leaves "your world".

Same is possible on the end of the receiver. If their email server is down, that person may not even get the email at all (I call it lost in the shuffle)

Finally, many spam filters block lots of "innocent" yahoo emails because they include those cutesy animations or borders, etc - many of these never make it to the destination.

I agree with all points, thus far in this thread of useful comments. I prefer the phone, but rarely get that on a first date.

I realize there is a delay my point was that if you are running a business and prefer that method for first contacts be quick in the reply's.  If I went 2-3 or more days in not replying to my customers I wouldn't last long.  Even if its a simple auto reply thanks for your interest will be in contact shortly or something that is better than nothing.  I realize it most likely wont be an instant response nor do I think it should be I certainly don't expect you to sit around waiting for emails.

In response to lakeboy, I prefer phone contact as well but that usually doesn't happen on the initial contact.  Again the original post wasn't directed to anyone specifically just a rant caused by frustration and a bit of personal experience.

Enjoy the weekend!
