I get up, go out to the living room, pick up a book and read for one hour, then back to bed. So far, it has always worked for me.

Getting out of bed breaks the thought pattern of "I can't sleep."

I'll usually catch up on my real life work and brew some sleepy time tea.  

I can run off no sleep and I usually do so as I prefer 6 to 7 hours of sleep I'm happy with 4 or 5.

If it only happens once in a while and you can keep enjoying the sunrise, just go with it. I suspect that Doctors can be a challenge from what you have said in the past, but if it persist please seek professional help. For me finding the hidden stress, the thing that I did not realize was causing me stress, and confronting that helped. Stay SweetMelissa, Good luck.

ubbing one out and achieving the " O " is a actually very good for you.  Besides the fact that it feels incredible it can actually help lower blood pressure and relieve stress.  The dopamine release in the brain along with endorphins give you a sense of pleasure and comfort.    I have read medical studies in women that show having the " O " can even help with monthly cramping.  Also helps keep levels of nitric oxide in your blood balanced, improving sexual activity.  That is part of what Viagra does for men.   There are also several sleep studies showing that people fall into a deep sleep after achieving orgasm due to blood pressure being lowered while relaxation is increased through the release of endorphins.  Masturbation is a good sleeping pill.  Heck I sleep like Rip Van Winkle.    Good luck!

To be serious, one of the least helpful things one does when having difficulty sleeping or even drowsiness is to crank up the old computer. I don't recall the reason why but exposure to the screen hinders sleep.
Oddly....rather easy to fall asleep watching TV....maybe because you are not as physically close to the screen.
I've also found it helps to knock down a 1/2 bottle of good brandy.
