I'm curious about others thoughts or experiences on the YMMV (Your-Mileage-May-Vary) front.  

We have all read a series of reviews where YMMV does indeed vary widely with a given provider.  Thanks to TER, I generally know a lady has a range of good reviews and is attractive from her photos before we meet.  Obviously, I would prefer my session be a good YMMV experience.  

With that in mind, I have taken to spending $20 or so just before I see a lady.  I stop at a nearby grocery store, pick up a $5 bouquet of simple pretty flowers, a $5 box of Whitman sampler chocolates, a nice-smelling $5 scented candle, and a CHILLED bottle of FUN, fruity wine (Arbor Mist, Wild Vines, Boone's Farm) for $3 or so, and a simple gift bag for $2.  

When a provider opens a door and sees a guy holding flowers, chocolates, a little bag with a gift, and a bottle wine:  Shaaazaaammmm!!!   The smile you get is INCREDIBLE.  It seems to genuinely brighten the girl's day, instantly set me apart as a nice guy, and get a kiss from even those girls who do not kiss.  The whole session is one long YES, rather than a frustrating series of NO's.  Given the time and expense of a given session, this effort is like YMMV insurance.

Do any of the guys or providers on this board have similar experiences or insights or suggestions along these lines that they are willing to share or suggest in the quest to maximize the YMMV variable?  

If the girl has a site and lists gifts, I like to select something from there. Otherwise flowers, wine or gift card from VS. They appreciate and don't forget. Dang, I wish I was still traveling to Montreal overy couple of months. The providers there look fantastic.
