Amid The Falling Snow...

How I remember sleepless nights
When we would read by candlelight,
And on the windowpane outside
A new world made of snow;

A million feathers falling down,
A million stars that touch the ground,
So many secrets to be found
Amid the falling snow.

Maybe I am falling down.
Tell me should I touch the ground?
Maybe I won't make a sound
In the darkness all around.

The silence of a winter's night
Brings memories I hold inside;
Remembering a blue moonlight
Upon the fallen snow.

Maybe I am falling down.
Tell me should I touch the ground?
Maybe I won't make a sound
In the darkness all around.

I close my window to the night.
I leave the sky her tears of white.
And all is lit by candlelight
Amid the falling snow.

And all is lit by candlelight
Amid the falling snow.

~Enya

Last night I sat indoors watching the first snow fall, fluffy white flakes dancing their way down toward the ground, the lyrics for this song playing in my head. I lit far too many candles, opened a wonderful bottle of red wine, Le Cortigiane Oneste by Caduceus a gift from a suitor, and wrapped a soft white blanket around me. The red wine warming my body as I drank it and the flickering of many candles provided the perfect backdrop to the winter landscape that has begun to form outside my window.
I believe it's important to take time to relax, unwind and enjoy the world that surrounds us, taking pleasure in such little things as the warmth of the candlelight to the way the wind suddenly changes direction and sends the snow in a massive flurry upwards before continuing it's journey downward to blanket the streets around me.
That was yesterdays little pleasure and what has provided such passion and warmth for me on a cold grey winter day. I am looking forward to many more warm and inviting winter nights.

What pleasures will your winter bring?
