With all the grad activity this week (or so I've been told), I am wondering if there will be any sort of special events I should try to catch while I'm in town.

I love street fairs/festivals and outdoor type things...any suggestions?

SOWA--South of Washington--is the up-and-coming, hip new area of Boston, seeking to be the Soho-ish area of the North. In past years, it's been a cute little area of local vendors, all the trendy shops are open, and there are lots of open galleries and performance art.

And for general carnival, you can always go down to Fanueil Hall or Harvard Square for the street performers, people-watching, and shopping.
