How about that she is getting a cool 1 million for a book

it never ceses to amaze me that the media and tabloids are always dishing out money for stuff like this

and every one will probly run to the store and get the book

like when they are forcasting SNOW every ones runs out for bread and milk

First she was a Amazon warrior hero who fought like a banshee killing many Iraqis, then we found out she didn't fire her rifle because it was too rusty and dirty to function. Now we're told her injuries came from the crash of her Humvee. She couldn't remember anything, but suddenly she remembers enough to tell her story for a cool million. The hack who has been hired to write "her story" was fired as a journalist for making up stories, now there's a perfect fit! Wagging the Jessica Lynch dog! I wonder if any of that 1 mill will go to the real heroes, the spec op guys who risked their lives to save her? Sen. Daniel Patrick Monahan used the term "defining down deviance" now we're defining down heroism to meet the requirements of feminist "logic." Generations of valorous war dead are spinning in their graves, but America will buy it! All part of the great Iraq War spin machine.

I have added a link to a Slate article about the resignation (under fire) of Rick Bragg, the writer hired by Knopf to write this propaganda piece.

Well, in all fairness to Jessica Lynch, she didn't label herself an Amazon Warrior that fought like a banshee killing many Iraqis. I think that was the press and/or maybe the military itself, looking to create a hero. But, I don't think you can lay that at her feet. At the time that was all hitting the news, I don't believe she even knew she had feet :)

As for herosim? That could be an argument that would fill volumes, everyone has heroes and defines those heroes in their own way. I think, in this world, with this economy, if you have a story that will pay you a million, then tell it and grab the cash baby. :)

I turn on the television and see a steady stream of inane reality shows like "Who Wants to Marry my Dog?" and "Temptation Taxi" and I ask the same question. The entertainment media gives us what we want. Be careful what you wish for...

I don't think I ever "laid..." anything "at her feet" in my post. You should re-read it. I am certainly not suggesting she shouldn't grab her chance for a "15 minutes of fame" pay day, I believe in capitalism. It's just that she knows she's no hero and America should know too.

I have been confined to my home for the last couple of weeks due to a surgery.  I did not how much fun it was to watch the stupid talk shows and other inane stuff on TV in the afternoon.  And the shows like "Blind Date" and "Who Wants to Marry My Dad" that I never watched before are looking mighty good just about now. LOL!!!!
