just a note, as of now he "technically" isn't the manager, he contract is up and the Sox have an option they can pick up.

The rumor I'm hearing is they will pick up the option to give him a years pay to say thank you and not let him manage the team next year.

I've also heard there's a chance he will walk away before the Sox get that far.

Face it he doesn't know how to manage at this level. Pedro was done and should have left  who cares if he wants to pitch a complete game the idea is to move to the next round.

Management of this game a 'F'  fire grady little immediatley

It was a great series....with the same result unfortunatly.

I can't see the world series being as great as the ALCS has been.

Pedro pitched a great game, played his heart out, was throwing in the 90's in the 8th. After that first hit in the 8th, my inclination was to pull him out and bring in Timlin for two outs, then Sauerbeck for the ninth.. When Grady came out after the next hit, I thought he was taking him out. But he didn't.

Grady did a great job this year, got them to the 7th game alcs. No manager makes the right decision all the time. The team had great chemistry this year, and Grady contributed to it.

So now its decision time. Does management bring him back, based on all the positives, or do they run him out of town, based on one critical decision, one that seemed so obvious to the rest of the baseball world as they watched the events unfold?

If they run him out of town, that decision becomes Gradys career defining moment. If they keep him, he has an opportunity to redefine, but will only be successful if they win the series at some point. Behind him. Next year.

I think Gradys got some 'splainin' to do.  I wouldn't want to be him today. If he wants to stay, he needs to look management in the eye, recognize the bad decision, and express his desire to return. Then Theo and the brain trust have their own decision to make.  Heck, they may have already made it.

Hmmmmm, what would Jared do?

I wonder if Buckner watched last night and thought "I'm off the hook!"

Pats/Miami this Sunday. Squish the Fish!

Hey, didn't we used to have a hockey team in this town? When does the season start, anyway?

yes, it is true that Pedro should have took the rest of the night off.  When they did pull him the game was tied and the Sox still had many opportunites to win the game !!!!!!! So, it wasn't that one decision that lost them the game.  Oh, unless you think that the Yankees would have no chance against any of the other Sox's pitchers.

If you're not finding some scapegoat of your own you try and degrade your nemesis - how does it go ``Yankees Suck''.  Christ, you even make t-shirts.  It's F'n pathetic !!!!!!

::"So, it wasn't that one decision that lost them the game."::

c'mon llcar, you seem to know baseball better than that.. one decision will lose you a game.  Baseball is all about emotions.  Yankees were able to gain momentum and drive by getting the base hits. Had the Sox pulled Pedro, before the lead was lost.. I'm certain that the outcome would have been different.

team with highest payroll won, not exactually rocket science...was a great series..go marlins :>)

stop with that excuse that is old sports is a business today to all owners just like running a big corporation and stien brenner is a good business man

we cant help it if the redsox are stupid when money and all other decissions are involved
typical redsox fan

I agree all redsoxs fans are full of excuses just suck it up and move on it should not be that painful you should be used to it

the game could have gone any way why the hell dont you just be good sports and say the yankees pulled it off  congradulations  but no the sob stories give it a break

all red sox fans are crybabies

if the yankees loose the world series i wont cry ill just say well maybe next year
and move on

When Oakland Raiders fans whined about the "tuck rule" call in the AFC Championship game a couple of years ago, I was quick to point out that the Raiders and their overrated coach had the Pats 2nd and 1 on the previous series of downs. If the Raiders got a first down the Pats never would have gotten the ball back.

I felt the Yankees started to take back the momentum when Mussina got out of the first and third, no outs jamb in the fourth. Sure Little might have changed the flow of the momentum at a number of points in the eighth. Afterall, it's not like the Yankees tied it with a walk, an error and a three run homer. Still, one play doesn't make a game and one game doesn't make a 7 game series. The Sox had plenty of chances to put the Yankees away. The problem is...when you go to a 7th game, anything can happen. That's why the loud mouth Yankee fans were so quiet and even conciliatory before game 7.

If George was Grady's boss and he had jusl lost that game;
How long do you think it would have taken George to Fire Grady
5 minutes?

about 90 seconds stienbrenner would have fired him before the game ended period
