I've gone to the new chat room a few times, but always find myself alone. As we all know, thats no fun.

Why not try to arrange a meeting time and announce it here. Whether it's the same time every day, every week or varying times, this is the best way to get people used to using the chat room.

IMHO, You're probably not going to run into many people in the chat room until they get in the habit of stopping by.

I think that it's an excellent idea to post what time someone is planning to be on, and that way, if someone wants to speak to them, they can log in
