Ann,
This is not one of my poetry originals, but I wanted you to read it. I do not know you well, but I do know you are a person I want to get to know better and that you are a person WORTH getting to know.
I have been through my share of trials and tribulations...at times I almost gave up, I have been kicked when I was down and down for as a result of being kicked, but never did God see fit for me to get out of any of it so easy.
That is why he gave me the strength, positive self thought, and perseverance we all need to get though whatever it is we are coping with. A special girl, who touched my life, though brief and fleeting, once told me, “Never give up two minutes before the miracle.” Her words got me through some heartache and tough times. Your ship will come in. Do not give up. Remember that no matter what happens to come out on top of all this you must persist.
Persist
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must - but don't you quit.
Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow ..
You might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And her learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out.
The silver tint to the clouds of doubt -
And you can never tell how close you are,
It mat appear when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It when things seem worst that you mustn't quit !
