I was a hobbyist in the early 90's pre-internet. I am considering getting back into the hobby.

On most of the listing I see that there is verification needed. I am sure I am like others and have a home based business. Any suggestions on how I can verify myself?

Try using date check, preferred 411 or roomservice 2000. Most ladies use one of these services. Check the newbie board to. See link below.

Same boat as you ... active in the late 90's and early 00's but "retired" for a time. Provider references are obviously your best bet, but getting past the initial verification hurdles can be a bit daunting.

I signed up with P411.  Screening was prompt and professional. A couple of discrete phone calls to the numbers I provided and I was good to go the next day.

As you're no doubt aware, it can be pretty risky for the ladies ... seems even more so recently with the murder of an escort in Boston.  Signing up with one of the prominent services gives the ladies some confidence, saves them the trouble and will certainly make booking a lot easier.
