Same boat as you ... active in the late 90's and early 00's but "retired" for a time. Provider references are obviously your best bet, but getting past the initial verification hurdles can be a bit daunting.

I signed up with P411.  Screening was prompt and professional. A couple of discrete phone calls to the numbers I provided and I was good to go the next day.
