You mentioned in your NY post that Manny is a pain in the Fanny.  Are the Sox actually seriously considering moving him?  This would seem to be a collosal blunder, and in effect, telling the Nation that they're throwing in the towel.  With two mos. left in the season, and only a few games behind the Rays, there is still plenty of time to overtake them and win the division.  Manny is Manny, but he is a huge part of your team!  While I hope the Yanks (I am from NJ, and a loyal Empire citizen) will make a successful run to post season, well, I bet a C-note on the Rays in Vegas last week-end...they are still considered a dark horse, and the pay-off would not only cover the trip back to Vegas, but also an overnight with one special lady there.  But back to the question...are the Sox serious in moving Manny?  And how do Sox fans feel about this?

sox will get screwed we will get Bays from Pittsburgh and Manny will go to the Marlins.  If there is a baseball God lets hope they can't agree and miss the deadline.  This sox fan likes Manny being Manny.

Crystal,

He averages 150 strike outs over the past three years I believe we have a few strike out boys on the team roster now, lets add another one.  Come playoff time every team that we meet will love the Sox if we make this trade.  The crystal analogy Bob when you are loking for a provider are you looking for one that performs or just looks at your cock ;-)

they won't trade him.  For the betterment of the team, its time for him to go.

I think Manny has now become a distraction to the rest of the players.

Prior to the last week, I don't think that Manny was a distraction.  But recently, he has crossed the line.  Unfortunately, there is no good value out there being offered for him.

He must be crazy if he thinks anyone is going to pay him more than what the Yankees last year agreed to pay ARod ($17M/per yr).

Sure the Mets might give him a four yr deal, but not at the range that he is expecting.

I'm his biggest fan but I am tired of his antic's. There is a pennant race on and he makes 20 million a season. He's a distraction to everyone and I believe this weeks poor play is in some way related to the tension he's caused. Nomar left and we got better so if he is gone today at 4pm and we get a bat that is a little less but still formidable we may be better off. He was entertaining though

....while the Rays may be a fashionable underdog....no experience in the post season usually translates into a bust.  Cubbies/Angels is probably the odds on favorite right now.

I was a little excited but it was a stuck button that caused the triple post.
Unfortunately I agree the sox had no choice.
Bay will be a solid player but I will miss Manny.
Watching him hit was like watching Bird shoot..Too bad he became such a distraction I really believe he will come to regret these antic's of the past two weeks more than the Sox will.
Manny was wrong we paid 20 million per year for him and the fan's deserved more from him.
