All awful alliteration aside...
Like many out there I am not making what I used to(in sales) but at the same time I want to show my appreciation to wonderful providers I have met.
Is $20 insulting? 10? 30?
I'd be interested to hear from both sides of the equation.

A tip is NEVER insulting, it does matter if its just a couple extra bucks. its very sweet gesture and a sweet thing to do and SHOULD be appreciated .. i know i appreciate it :)

Gifts, tips, and etc. will be always remembered and  greatly appreciated, even a bottle of water!!!
What matters to me it's not the amount or the cost of your tip or gift, but your gesture of care and consideration.

I would use my judgement thusly: How much do you normally tip the gas station attendant who pumps gas into your car when it's zero degrees outside. BTW he's probably making $ 8.00/hr. Don't bother to answer I think I know the answer.

So do I. Sweet things are always welcome but never required. I always am appreciative of anything thoughful. Even if it's just a nice card that holds the donation. It's really the thoughtfullness that counts.

I never expect tipping, but it is thoughtful.Actually,as opposed to an extra 20-30 bucks, scented candles ,perfume or a sexy bra isa nice touch. Everytime I wear that bra or light that candle,I think of the person that gave it to me.
Nice to know you even consider it.

me too. I am often tipped with $$ and don't expect it but I do appreciate it. When I am tipped with a sweet gift, perfume candles bath beads a cute bra and panties set, everytime I use the gift it reminds me of the Gentleman.

Not at all needed or expected but always appreciated.  We all like to feel special. ;)

Given that the lady has provided a superior service that has simply delighted me I will gladly tip $50.  Thus far its more of the chemistry that has caused me to tip.  I have found the services in Boston to be extraordinary (except for one stupid slip up by me listening to my little head).  In large part though I prefer to see a lady who is really in to it and would pay more or stay longer with  the right chemistry.  I am right now looking for that perfect person for my own Valentine's day gift to myself!

Its never necessary and I dont ever get insulted if you dont and never expected or anticipated. However even 5 10 or 20 helps! it pays for cab fare, luggage fees, our tipping out the maids, bell hops or dinner. I even had someone bring me chocolates and a bottle of champagne then he told me they were regifts fine I did not mind regifts at all you dont have to tell me that. The chocalates I gave to a homeless person on the streets (I dont need those calories!) and chilled the champagne for a client that spent four hour date with me that same week!) I will even take points from airlines/hotels, many do this only because they never use them all and I can utilize them! Be creative if you have abundance of something you can give (discounts, gift cards, regifts, rides from the airport or to the airport) all these are greatly appreciated!
My need list: (If you have these collecting room or dust I can use them!)
In need of some great black label samsonite hard case luggage and ipod and old laptop for a back up, sheared beaver coat. That is my wish list!

This is a very good thread. Thought about posting something similar on the GD board.

Here's my situation. I usually tip a lot.  But I'm watching my cash.  I can still see providers in the same price range, but I could see them more frequently if I didn't tip.  Would if bother you if a guy suddenly stopped tipping you?  Would you wonder what had happened?  Your honest answers would be greatly appreciated.  I should probably hobby less but I don't see how that would benefit my favorite ladies either.

Any gesture of appreciation is appreciated, whether small or large.  We're all feeling the pinch, both hobbyists and providers to various degrees.  I know a few kind words of explantion if you're feeling guilty about the size of your gift will make it seem all that more acceptable.
I wouldn't dream of not tipping regardless of the rate unless it was a bad session.  Just my 2 cents.  I'm hoping for some "recession-buster" rates soon personally.  This is killing me.

I would completely understand specially in these times of financial crisis.
We are all watching our money.
