In the majority of the Northern Hemisphere, meteorological winter begins long before the winter solstice and is the coldest three month period of the year: December, January, and February.

I believe Boston's is December 3rd -March 3rd.

We are two thirds of the way through!

It is three weeks closer than we usually think of the end of winter, March 21st.

Camille, come on down to Florida, it is a cold and sunny 65 today in Orlando, tomorrow will be in the high 70's.....

I lived in the Boston area and still remember how cold and dreary it could get… and this was last century…
