It is THE day we, as Americans, celebrate and show our gratitude to ALL of those men and women who serve and have served to protect our country and our freedom.
It was also on the 11th a couple of months earlier that this country suffered it's first hostile act of terrorism on our shores and it should never, NEVER be forgotten, apologized for, re-written to turn it around in ANY way!
My hat is off to all those currently serving with our armed forces every day but especially tomorrow. It's a LOT different than it was a few decades ago.
God bless those who are gone but not forgotton.Special thanks to those soldiers over seas and here on American soil protecting our freedom. And on another not my birthadys fall under the #11.
Perhaps it is worth remembering that November 11 is not an exclusively American holiday (as, let's say 4th of July, or Thanksgiving are). This date commemorate the end of World War I, which was at that time the bloodiest war ever. (Unfortunately it took only 21 more years for the world to see a really, really bad war...)
As such, November 11 is celebrated as an Independence Day of Poland, which regained its independence after 123 years of being occupied by its 3 neighbouring empires: Russia, Germany and Austria-Hungary, when all 3 disintegrated as the result of that war.
