I cringe to think I've only just grown out of showing my ass on these boards when I read the posts of new providers or providers new to TER making the rounds.

Many, if not most, providers take a gander at other provider's advertisements from time to time for ideas, inspiration, to gauge the markets we participate in, sometimes even to find other ladies who are comparable to ourselves or admirable for platonic friendship, mentor-ship or professional association.

The correction that you are being given is that it is bad form to criticize the advertisements of other providers publicly, no matter what the content of the advertisement is.  
Our advertisements, our services our very selves are openly evaluated on a daily basis, sometimes very cruelly in ways that affect how we regard ourselves more than we know today.  
Its not appropriate when our peers compound that process by pointing out the errors of our presentation, even if it is in the vein of creating a discussion.  

As a provider new to TER you have to consider whether indulging your impulse to say what you please is worth the cost of time wasted defending yourself or coloring the impressions of clients who read our words very carefully, sometimes for months or years before choosing or avoiding us.

So now you know- biting, low-blow discussions about other advertisers isn't a good idea.
You should also now know that when corrected its nearly always best to skip the tantrum and move on.
Trivial topics like this never allow you a means to provide a definitive statement about yourself & your service- which means its useless unless you are also a part-time client.

Make good habits now so that you don't have to spend a single moment regretting previous statements or your representation of yourself.
