I'll be happy when this election is over. I have received over 75 phone calls over the last two weeks split evenly between the candidates. Enough already!
if you think either of these candidates is going to change the status quo. Given the institution itself is corrupt, one person cannot possibly change anything.
Seems odd, but it may be the case. Memories are short.
It's clear from news reports and this thread that some people view the Coakley/Brown race as a referendum on Obama. What happened to securing the best Senator for Massachusetts?
Some people will vote for any candidate/party just to keep the other party from having "too much" power. What happened to getting things done and making needed changes?
It's easy to be angry when things aren't going well. It's easy to say "No" and "Fuck you". But is it constructive?
Not sure what you are talking about. 1933-1945, the New Deal and Social Security? 1961-1969, the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts? All were produced by Democratic presidents with substantial congressional majorities.
Even if bi-partisanship has worked at some times in the past, in today's extremely polarized, take-no-prisoners political climate (arguably started by Newt Gingrich and the "Republican Revolution" boys), it is clearly not working. No, a vote for Brown is a vote for gridlock.
