Boston is one of the VERY BEST cities to be a provider in. Whether I was traveling here for tours OR when I was living here permanently, it didn't matter. I feel like Boston is the easiest city in the country to be a provider in, and I've been all over the place, East Coast to West Coast, North to South. I've always been indy.
If you aren't getting the amount of calls you want, adjust your rate. If you're getting more than you can handle, go up on your rate. Just my own personal experience. Cheers. xxx ww
I recently had an email exchange with a visiting provider. Unfortunately we couldn't connect at that time and she said she won't be coming back, as "Mass is an Agency ruled city"
I don't know about other cities, but is Boston really that bad for traveling Indys? Do Agencies have that grip on the market or she just didn't know how to properly promote herself?
LOL, She doesn't sound too bright. Did she advertise her visit? Did she advertise it on the right board? While agencies certainly have a healthy presence in Boston they do in other major cities as well. While it may be competition for the visiting ladies so are all of the great local indie ladies we have here. Sounds like sour grapes from a gal who had a bad week...
Spring, Fall & Autumn are great times for touring Indies or Agency girls.... winter, not so much. Usually they come from warmer climates & ain't gonna mess with the weather up here from Dec -March. Take a look at the ad board right now, over flowing w/ touring providers. Indian Summer in New England is amazing.
Best part is... there are soooo many quality locals that it doesn't matter. You can find whatever you want in any season.

BUT...this is a hard time in any industry right now. Food and beverage Catering Bars and clubs AND this biz. theres less extra money for 2-3 weeks and thats not just Boston its everywhere. By the mid to end of Sept it will pick back up again. It always does.
Most women who tour here do so well, they become reg touring ladies.
